Hey gang,

Am really impressed and love my Phenix Feather rods. Love the actions and sensitivity is great. I sprung and bought a K2 765c to use for bottom contact applications. Saw a few reviews that stated it better than an NRX.

Was curious if anyone here had any experiences they might be able to share with the K2’s? Really like the styling of all the Phenix rods.

I know a couple guys who build rods professionally for in shore and some big time offshore tuna guys.  Ive never owned a Phenix because no one carries them around here.  Those guys can have literally whatever blank they want and they use quite a few Phenix blanks for their personal rods and they mentioned the k2 blank specifically.  One is certified century dealer/builder, the other uses a lot of zenaq blanks, so they know what quality is.

If I get a Phenix, IM going to start with an m1, k2 is steep for a first experience with a new company.

I would encourage you to look at the Feather for your intro to Phenix. Phenomenal rods all around.

I was thinking about one but someone said the warranty wasn't good. Does anybody have experience with them ?

BR has a 2019 thread complaint about Phenix rods life time warranty didn’t include shipping costs basically for 3 year old rod rod breakage, thought it should be free.

If the prices were closer to what they were a few years ago, I would probably get a feather, but the increase puts them closer to 150$ instead of what they were, 120$.  Usually, upgrading to Sic guides cost more than the extra 35$ it would be to upgrade to m1 from feather, but that's for fuji guides.  I dont have any experience with essex components.  The only other guides other than fuji I have on my rods are Alps and Daiwa AGS.  I fish out of a jon boat and kayak often, and the guides can take a beating.  I have confidence in Sc guides as far as durability goes.

I had a k2 and the sensitivity was outstanding. I personally thought the grip was kinda small but I'm sorry I let it get away.

I just got a feather 7ft 1 M spinning rod and I'm impressed. If you are familiar with Phenix you know they fish lighter than labeled.

As to the warranty they were part of the GSM buyout and ALF is now selling them. I don't have any concern with anything I buy from them.

I recently saw a Virtus rod that was labeled Virtus/ Phenix so the times they are a changin'.

Interesting on the Virtus rods because Phenix announced new rods at iCast that were a blue and red series, with cork handles, built in the USA. Looks like Virtus is getting absorbed into Phenix I’d say.

Yes, I'm sure that's the case. Virtus is made down the road at the old Falcon facility.

I only have the red series and 1 that was a prototype that has silver wrapping and a black winn grip it only has sharpie markings on it.

The Feather is a great rod. Their ratings do seem to run a little lighter. I have the 7'1 H that makes a great chatterbait rod. And the 7'7 XH as one of my flipping/punching rods. The blanks run a little thicker than some, but they are very light, hence the name. I mean, the 7'7 XH weighs just under 4 oz.

I also have the 7'2 MH M1. Another rods that's super fun to fish. Both great rods at that price point. I can only imagine how nice the K2's are.
