Evening Gents!

What’s your favorite:

1. Spinnerbait brand?

2. Trailer

3. Tips & Tricks

1. I prefer 1/2oz Santone & Nichols, but have considered using Wan-Wagle, but don’t know how I feel about the skirt and not being able to use a Trailer.

2 My go to trailers are Keitech Fat Impact

My tip is that I reel, the stop, and pop the bait, then reel. I also jerk and lure, the reel the slack - like a lipless crank

I use Walmart spinners, with BPS Bo-Hawg trailers, or with pieces of my used plastics I save.

Sometimes I have to tweak them, but I don’t cry to hard when I loose them. I also with them being inexpensive I cast them in places I probably shouldn’t.

SK Burner with Rage Swimmer. Yo-yo it or run it right under the surface

SK Banshee with Berkley Pit Boss - like bowhunter...yo-yo or burn just under the surface.

Don't worry the skirt - the trailer with the skirt makes it look bigger and more enticing.

I'm partial to Stanley VibraShaft and SK's Scorcher. I only run a trailer in the spring and then it's a Kalin's Lunker Grub. If I'm burning it, I run it just under the surface. If not, it's normally a yo-yo type retrieve sometimes popping the rod tip, other times with a quick turn of the reel handle followed by a short pause. The only time I employ a straight retrieve is when I'm slow rolling and even then, I'll occasionally give it a quick burst. I don't mess with skirt colors, but I do experiment with blade sizes and colors.

Different ones for different situations. I like sk burners in a half ounce if I want to cover a lot of clear water fast. As long as you keep them straight you can bring them in pretty quickly without blowing them out. Off color water I like a Colorado/Indiana setup and slower, so I’ll drop to the tour pro sk or another random in my box. I like the dirty jigs compact a lot as well. Lighter wire and a heck of a thump for two willows. Not a burner type though, more mid pace depending on the weight.

trailer?  I’ve stopped adding them. If I really want one I’ll add a split tail. I still have spinnerbaits rigged with trailers and I’ll fish them until it wears out.

tips?  Fish them. I don’t do my best on them in slick calm sun but wind, low light, night, or dirty water all say spinnerbait.

I really like the Dobyns Beast and run a Storm Largo Shad as a trailer.

For a compact, the Megabass SV3 is really good but spendy.  No Trailer.

Tips:  unless I’m burning it i want the blades to stop or stall often and bump cover if possible.

I have many other brands and models and fish them all under various conditions. On occasion I’ll add a single tail grub or  SK Blade Minnow.

Only brand I fish with now is Strike King Tour Grade. The quality/price combo can’t be beat. And the only one that ever broke on me was replaced with 3 new ones by Strike King when I emailed them.

For trailers I use Rage Swimmers.

As far as tips and tricks, try a 3/4oz double willow spinnerbait. Thank me later.

I use a variety of brands, and weights.  Most of the time I do not have a trailer attached because I want to try and make that spinner bait look as tight and compact as possible.  Spring and fall is when I do the most catching, usually in some sort of vegetation that is starting to die off, or just turning green and starting to grow.

Roll my own most of the time. Only factory spinnerbaits I regularly use are SK Midnight Specials.

Trailers sometimes a grub, SK blade minnow, or the Zoom split tail.

Best spinnerbaits overall for me are 1/2oz hidden weight in shad colors with double nickel blades.

I like the z man sling blade. Just got some 6th sense to try. I usually run them slow enough to make contact with bottom or cover.  Rage tails are the main trailer I use.

For spinnerbaits I like a Dirty Jigs Compact Double Willow (tactical shad) or a Strike King Tour Grade Double Willow (white / silver).

For trailers I like a 4.5 Spunk Shad (blue gizzard) or a Crush City Freeloader.

In terms of tricks and tips if you are around cover or aren't allowed to throw an a-rig this would be my next choice. Rod wise I have a 7'3" Victory Marshall that I personally really like and generally speaking I'd say a fast rod but with a little extra bend like a Victory or a Sierra does well with a spinnerbait.

No favorite brand. No favorite trailer. Tips and tricks: accurate casts and good hardware to get the blade(s) turning sooner.

@James Morgen do a search on Glenn’s videos he has one about spinner baits, talks about blades, the lift, trailer, etc.

They sell kits too where you make your own.

90% of my spinnerbaits are War Eagle Nickel Double Willow in 3/8oz, and I prefer the Blue Pearl Shad color.

I don't use trailers. I prefer a medium retrieve, with occasional stopping and popping. I like to bump into things when I can.

One thing I do that catches me fish that, as far as I know, a lot of people don't do, is that I will pitch a spinnerbait into a pocket as if it were a plastic, and I just let it fall. This is just a Hail Mary when there's an opportunity if I have a spinnerbait in hand, and not a specific technique I set out to do. It gets me bites.

Love me a spinnerbait! I don't have a favorite brand. Like white, chart, and bluegill colors. Double willows are my favorite.

Accurate casts are key for me. Get that SB in close to cover, sometimes I start the retrieve immediately upon splash-down, other times I let it sink for just a second or two.

I mix and match trailers. Sometimes a white grub, other times a split tail.

I make my own from components  I don't pour.  Usually 1/2 oz in white and chartreuse  for smallmouth mainly ( works for largemouth too).  I use willows in 4 1/2 and 3 1/2 size ( white and chart.) Skirts are hand tied and layered. They are glued on so they last till the last strand.  R eyes are also tied with fly tying thread so they don't bend as much.  Loose a bit of vibration but it's OK.  Catch pike and walleyes on them so tying helps.  Don't use trailers.

For smaller baits ( 3/8 oz) for very shallow water on flats, I use a commercialy made Swagy in a kind of bluish color (natural bait).

Have had great luck with this spinnerbait - and no need for a trailer…

The SK burner has been a stable in my late summer and early fall brown bass hunts.

And has accounted for several trophy class fish for me.

I fish it fast & high in the water column.

The Megabass V9 Double Willow Spinnerbait has a lot of the features I like

except the hook is just a little smaller.

Still gets the job done.

More recently the Freedom Speed Freak LM Willow Kilter Spinnerbait has been giving the the previously mentions baits a run for their money.

I use a SK Blade minnow for a trailer quite a bit.

Mostly for the profile.

I use a lot of the Walmart ones as well.  Loosing a $1.00 doesn't make me cry like some of the more expensive ones would :)  I like a curly tailed grub or worm as a trailer.

Oh boy don't get me started.  I am going to refrain and keep this simple.  My opinions derive from buying/using an insane amount of spinnerbaits.  There are TONS on the market, but only a few GREAT ones from a half dozen or less manufacturers.

Dobyn's Beast (thank me later)

Weight/color per situation (1/2 oz double willow shimmer shad 90% of the time in my waters)

No trailer

Cast and steady retrieve

I catch more fish on this than all my other lures combined.

I dont have a favorite brand. Rarely use a trailer. The willow/Colorado combo gets thrown most. Havent lost one in years. Like everyone else says and stressed in Glenns video, casting is the key.
