Huckfinn38 Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Anyone use the 706cb for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits? I guess only concern is the tip is a little soft. Quote
Bass Rutten Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 This is one the few rods I regret selling. It has plenty of horsepower for both applications. I even used to throw the 1.5oz jackall gantarel jr among other swimbaits on it and swimjigs too. A real sleeper in the dobyns lineup. I wish they made a 7'3" version of it. 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted September 18, 2024 Super User Posted September 18, 2024 Have you read TT's review of this rod? Supposedly handles over 1/2 oz. best. It also handled Strike King's 10XD (just under 2 oz.) quite well. I would have liked the 736CB, but couldn't justify the cost considering how I fish. Hopefully a few more users of this rod will respond. Quote
Bass Rutten Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Just a note, the 736cb they offer is a composite glass rod, the 706cb is all graphite and very light for a heavy power rod. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted September 19, 2024 Super User Posted September 19, 2024 The Kaden 735cb is all graphite. It has the forgiving Crankbait flex to keep them pinned. Works great!! Quote
softwateronly Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 @Bass Rutten they added a 746cb all graphite rod earlier this year. I wish it was 7'6, but that's here nor there. https://dobynsrods.com/product/dc-746cb/ @Huckfinn38 I definitely like the 706cb for spinnerbaits, never really throw chatterbaits on it, I'm usually ripping them from grass and like a faster rod. I also have thrown a gantarel and crank down swimbaits with it. It's my favorite larger underspin rod too. It's been out of rotation this year and needs a reel now, but I can't let it go just yet. I think the longer version is the rod I'd always have rigged, my issue with the 706cb is that my casting distance has always been slightly underwhelming and my lake seems to like covering large flats/breaks with treble hook baits. scott 2 Quote

I actually found a kistler that's close to this rod on paper, it's a 7'3" heavy/mod-fast 3/8-2oz (they make a 7'6" version too), I'll get around to trying one someday, I'm all in on finesse fishing, bfs, and kistler rods right now (backseat tournament fishing).
