Super User burleytog Posted January 25, 2007 Super User Posted January 25, 2007 BPS is practically giving this stuff away and I can somewhat see why. :-/ Bought a spool of the 14 lb. to try. Filled a Citica last night using Ike's tip (rag with Reel Magic). Tied on a plug, then pushed the clutch bar. BOOM! Line going everywhere. Like a slinky this stuff is. Gave the spool a good dose of RM and it seems to have calmed a bit now. I will say one thing, this is some thick thick line. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 25, 2007 Super User Posted January 25, 2007 Throw it away! It's thick, unmanagable and weak, particularly the tensile strength. It is some of THE WORST line I have ever tried to fish. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 25, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 25, 2007 It will be fished at least once. Couldn't pass it up for $3/200 yards. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 25, 2007 Super User Posted January 25, 2007 It is some of THE WORST line I have ever tried to fish. I am going out on a limb here .... IT IS THE WORST LINE I HAVE EVER USED!!!!!!! Quote
justfishin Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I tried it because I thought it would be a good flippin line. Yes, it certainly is strong or at least rated as strong over its line test but, very unmanageable. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 26, 2007 Super User Posted January 26, 2007 Well, I was in the Memphis BPS last week and they had something else on sale, 1000 yards for $1.99... I didn't buy it either. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 26, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 26, 2007 Why not? That would make a killer wig. Quote
Guest avid Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I won't even use this crap as backing. I can't understand what Yo-zuri was thinking when they came out with this worse line ever. (After "what's your sign") Seriously inferior product from a usually top notch company. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 27, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 27, 2007 Did some casting in the yard this morning. Don't know if it was the temperature (13*) or the line, but that stuff just won't lay on a spool. Supposed to hit the water tomorrow afternoon for a couple of hours. If the stuff doesn't get better when wet, I think it will be stripped and replaced with 12 lb. Hybrid, CXX, or Big Game. On another note, I am totally sold on St Croix rods. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 28, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 28, 2007 Well, that was $3 less than well spent. :-/ Only took 4 rods with me today and fished the rig filled with the X-Tex the most. I don't think soaking it for 6 weeks in water would help it any. Quote
earthworm77 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Scrap it and get some Hybrid or Hybrid Soft. Generally my rule of thumb concerning line is this.......When it is on sale, there is a reason they are trying to blow it out the front door. That will translate into poor performance for you in the long run. Quote
