Considering I bought five acres of waterfront for $75,000 and had a driveway built for another $5,000, I spent north of eighty grand, but it's been worth every penny.

yeah - didn't mean to incriminate anyone, lol.   is there an anonymous account to respond to threads like this?  fun to find out the cash outlays for fishing -- for the current year.

Oh boy. Alot.

-3k on a kayak

-Close to another grand for fish finder, battery, transducer mount

-3 rods, all about 150 each.

-A few hundred on tackle id guess

-I don't even no but quite a few kayak accessories (black pak, beef up plate, rudder bolt, spare prop, spare shear pins, floating prop nut, kayak cart)

That's not including gas, licenses, or monthly tackle subscription box.

I'm at 5k easy if not more. Unless we're talking year from this day back.... in that case there's a second kayak in there. If we're just talking this calender year then it dosent.

Granted, most of it was kayak and kayak accessories. Wouldn't normally spend that sort of money

I actually challenged myself to not buy any gear for the whole year. Over the years I've accumulated a lot more than intended (seems to be a common occurrence in the sport), and I wanted to push myself to make it work with what I already have. Part of that meant using more of the lures/colors that I haven't gained confidence in yet, which has resulted in mixed success. I have been able to hold myself to the challenge...despite breaking one of my go-to rods early in the year, and one of my buddies breaking my favorite rod a couple months later.

Technically I have spent money on licenses ($16.60 AL resident license + $60 PA non-resident license) and I bought new polarized shades but I wear them all the time. Other than that I bought a box of live worms to take my kids, nephew, & niece fishing so I justify that as being for them rather than for myself.

But no rods, reels, lures, terminal, line, storage. Happy I've been able to stick to my challenge, but in all honesty I can't wait for January 1st.

Between 2k & 3k. I made a major move to a boatload of Megabass lures which have proven to be a game changer for me. Next year I don't anticipate any major purchases and with some luck will only be purchasing consumables.

I've said that before and have proven myself wrong many times.....

Honestly, less than $100. Not that I didn't want to as the bait monkey has me on speed dial and likely ran up a hefty bill with calls to me. I've been seriously chasing Ms. Largemouth since the early 70's and collecting gear along the way. Other than line and a few bags of soft plastics, there was noting I needed and I made a New Year's resolution not to buy gear just because I want it.

That being said, please remember that I am a fisherman and we have been known to stretch the truth on occasion and who actually keeps New Year's resolutions?

Didn’t have any big purchases this year, one rod is it I think, and I got that at a discount at the Bassmaster Classic Expo. I guess it depends if I want to count gas, food, entry fees, and lodging while I’m after them, then it’s probably 3-4 thousand. Just gear, I’d guess 750. Also have to factor in the 2k that catching them has brought back to me also, so I’m not doing too bad in that aspect.

Well I lost a bunch of rod and reel setups and had to replace them. So 1500 there. Than gas for the boat and truck $2500-3000? Not quite sure. I don’t think that’s honestly to bad that most of my expenses are fuel related. I also usually only chase bronze backs. So I’m lumping LMB in there as well.

Let’s start off by saying’s that I added livescope to my kayak this past year.

Between that, a few rods, reels, tournament fees, travel, and accessories I really don’t want to add it all up.

Plus now I’m looking at adding a Yakima rooftop rod holder and crossbars😞

With the canoe project, 4/5 new BFS rigs in the $300ish each range, new trolling motor/lithium battery, several spools of line of various types and a small selection of baits and tackle I’m probably around 3k this year,,,,,,,,,,,,,so far.

…..but who’s counting!

I bought a used boat a couple of months ago. Other than that it’s been fuel and an occasional rod and reel (a lot of them are gently used) . I try to be as cheap as possible, but I’m still looking at around 10,000

I'm going to say around $225 to $250.  I did purchase a new reel that I have yet to use, a couple of reel replacement parts, a bunch of size 6 and 4 hooks, a few baits, and new pair of split ring pliers.

So far maybe only 300ish give or take. I have a feeling come black friday/christmas that is going to shoot up though. Been really considering Mega360 or Garmin Livescope (yea, I know).

If I had to guess 2-3k… 8 used reels from Japan.. only 3 rods. Technically got my 2nd canoe last year, that was as pretty spendy. The problem is I can’t pass up a deal, and I refuse to pay shipping. So if free shipping is $50 that’s the minimum even if I only “need” a couple bags of plastics. It adds up.

There was the initial expense for things like rods, reels, kayak, stuff like that. And once acquired, things settled down...for me, at least. I've narrowed down and fine tuned my bait selection to but a few items, which has saved a LOT of money. Some of my baits I make myself, which also saves a lot of money. I only use a couple of soft plastics. All my rods/reels are top of the line, which last and last and last. Strait heavy braid last and last and last. So the expenses that I have are narrowed down to the gas it takes for me to get to my fishing spots. I have a 2024 Ford Ranger that gets 28mpg, so that helps BIG TIME in the gas department. Aside from that, juice for the battery, the coffee and sandwich and cold drinks, about it for me, mere nickels and dimes.

Well, $1,603 to Omnia that I just quickly added up.

The majority of that was two rods and a reel.

I'd say like $2k total (including the above) on other lures and a reel from other stores.

I really want to get a top of the line jig rod so that's another thousand with a reel. Just need to figure out what brand/model.

I'm normally pretty frugal with my money, but I do like my gear.  :)

$1k for a jig rod combo is a little extreme

Well when a rod like an NRX is $650 and then slap a $350 reel on it adds up pretty quick.

Not sure exactly what I'm going to get but I'm sure the total package will be at least $750.
