We remember the courage and bravery of the first responders after the horrific terroristic events of 9/11/01.  I saw a thing on 60 Minutes the other night and the whole episode was about the 343 firefighters of FDNY that died from this event.  Many of their kids are now working for the FDNY, as the positions are often passed down from one generation to another.

Those “first responders” mentioned above were NYPD officers who arrived on scene, assisted building occupants in leaving the towers and secured the area for fire and emergency personnel to arrive on scene. Over 3000 citizens lost their lives on that day and unfortunately many others after, primarily due to cancer.

In remembrance of this tragic event, lives lost and the heroism shown by NYPD, FDNY, emergency personnel and passengers on the planes, citizens on scene helping where they could the colors are posted out front of my house.

I know where I was and haven’t forgotten.

God bless America and those who protect her…..

My best friends father was a city fire fighter responding to all of this. Didnt see him for weeks. Thankfully he never got cancer but he did develop quite a few lung issues because of it. My friend now works for the city fire department as well in a slightly different capacity.

Was a crazy in NY at the time....lot of friends' family never made it home, either from working there or was a responder. On a clear day you could hike up a mountain by my house and see the city outline. After this it was days you couldn't see anything but solid haze.
