Best weight guess on this bass?

Hey guys.  I'm pretty new to freshwater fishing and when I landed this fish I had no way to get a weight.  Curious what you would put it at.  For reference the kayak is about 35" wide.  The fish is on my lap so it's not a 1 to 1 comparison but you get the idea.

I’m not very good at guessing weight, but congrats on catching a very nice fish.

Here’s a calculator if you have measurements.

I'm more curious why you aren't out there trying to locate your facial features.

😂 Boy, tough crowd here today!!! Personally, I have a face that's perfect for a career in radio.

Weight guesses are tough from pics @Ohnooze, but I'm gonna guess 7ish? Long skinny fish.

Nice Bass.  It's pretty much impossible to determine weight from a couple pictures.   Did you measure it?

I could give you a more accurate guess if you had not blocked out your identity but I’m guessing 6lb ish.

Ahhh, I’m gonna say that bass weighs about 5 pounds. But don’t kayak guys prefer using a measuring board? So 20-21 inches. Nice fish none the less @Ohnooze

I didn't.  I don't know why.  I think I was so freaked out that I got something bigger than 2lbs that I just wasn't thinking.

Nice fish, got a belly on it, I’m say 5-6ish.

I can relate, I caught a nice smallie wade fishing once, thigh deep water, fishing pole in one hand, fish in the other. I was so excited, I put the fish back in the water to get my tape, so I could measure it. Like it was just going to stay there and wait for me. What was I thinking.

@A-Jay always seems to have impeccable timing...whether it's for fishing, or clowning. 🤣

ps - That's meant as a compliment, not an insult.

Next time, just put a black box over it or crop it out or something.  You're going to give us nightmares with what you did!

It's always hard to judge a bass just by looking at it.  If you see it in person, it's not quite as difficult.  But with a camera, the lens will distort the size.  Smart phones are especially bad about this because they typically have very wide angle lenses, which makes things appear bigger than they are, the closer they are.  Telephoto lenses do the opposite.

Like in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, they often didn't use any digital effects to make the hobbits appear smaller than the other actors.  They just used the appropriate lenses, the positions of the actors, and distorted some of the props to make them appear so much smaller.

Sounds like something I would do. Only I’d probably tell the fish…

Looks like you have a pretty nice setup with some money invested. Looks like you have everything a guy needs except a ruler board or electronic scale.

I like Danny Trejo’ Breaking Bad. When a tortoise is shown walking around with Danny Trejo’s head on its back.
