COVID is starting to rear its ugly head again in the Southern California and Arizona areas. The new COVID boosters should be at your local pharmacies. Everyone get your shot and be safe

Good reminder! Thank you!

I've been getting the Covid vaccine and boosters ever since it came out, along with all the other vaccinations since I was a kid.

I'm a big boy.  I ain't afraid of no shot.

Nope, fiancé and her mom both are vaccinated and boosted both have got it multiple times with the shots. I’ve never got it or the shots and live with them and kiss my fiancé when she she had it. Yet I never got it and have to test when she has it in order to go to work. Always negative

Seek the advice of your doctor. Do not listen to a politician or a news outlet or social media. Your doctor is the best source of medical advice for you. I listen to what mine says every time I go.

The pandemic has produced a mental health crisis with effects that may reverberate for years — even decades — to come.  The COVID-19 pandemic has been the most traumatic worldwide event of our lifetime. And after several painful years and more than a million deaths in the U.S. alone, it is still unclear if the pandemic is finally behind us. That uncertainty is one of many stressors that have taken a significant toll on mental health.

As we continue on our path to recovery, it's important to acknowledge that the impact of Covid-19 remains deeply felt within our community. Many of us have experienced profound losses, including friends, family, and acquaintances. The memories and trauma are still very fresh, and such experiences are not easily left behind.

With this in mind, I want to remind everyone that this thread will not serve as a platform for rehashing old debates that may revive deeply rooted emotions. To protect the well-being of all members, this thread will be under strict moderation.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a supportive and respectful environment.

@looking45I appreciate the PSA on this issue. The Mrs and I both got vaccinated when they first came out because we wanted to travel and being vaccinated was an understandable requirement. I’ve already calendared a call Into my doctor for the COVID, flu, and pneumonia shots. I’ll usually get them in my casting arm to help me workout any kinks.

I took the original jabs and one booster. Missed a booster or two, probably going to take the next one as I am getting older (65 in a few days). I will say this, when I got covid last October, it was pretty mild. Was that due to the vaccine, I don't know?

For me, we still live in the United States of America. Take it or don't, I don't judge. As always, to each his own.

That's kinda what I was getting at with my post about talking to your doctor or health care professional.  They're not going to lie to your face on what they would advise you to do.  They're going to tell you what they think is the best option for your own personal health.  Some of that may be cost-related based on health insurance.  And while we're all human, we're all a little different too.  What is best for one person may not be the best for another.  Some people think they know more than a health care professional even though they have minimal education or knowledge of the subject.

It's the same as visiting a pediatrician when I take my 5 year old in for an appt or I take my dog into the vet.  I am not knowledgeable or educated enough to challenge advice they give me on the subject at hand when it comes to health, so I take it and I accept it.  Not following their advice or direction would be foolish IMO.  Not a risk this guy takes.

My best friend passed away from it.
I reluctantly took the vaccine right before he caught it. I had 4 friends I trust encourage me to do it.  Once the next year I had all the symptoms, but the results said negative. I kept working and was better after  5-6 days.

That year I got respiratory illnesses 4 times. Had not been sick for years. Still wasn’t sick enough to miss work.

The last year and a half Ive been fine.

Dont think Im taking any more though.

I've never had Covid, nor have I had any respiratory issues (yes, I've tested several times).  Come to think of it, I haven't had the flu or even a cold in the past 5 years.  I also keep up-to-date on all my vaccines and am diligent about washing my hands frequently.

Lost my brother-in-law (eldest sister's hubby) to complications

from Covid. I've been vaxxed, probably going to get another

tomorrow at my yearly physical. No worries from me. I was

vaxxed against a lot of diseases as a child...and so were most

of us. 😎

I on the other hand am fully vaccinated and I did get COVID. The misconception with the vaccine was it would fully prevent one from contracting the virus. In some cases it may be true, but for the majority it was to help mitigate the symptoms of the virus. Everyone’s immune system is different for various reasons.

I also get a flu and pneumonia shot every year at my doctor’s recommendation and I can’t remember the last time I had a cold or flu.

I’d like to add as we get older a shingles vaccination is not a bad idea.

I got shingles before I hit the age that I was supposed to get vaccinated.  So I got screwed! LOL!

Fortunately it was a relatively mild case that quickly went away with some anti-biotics.

I had a cousin die a couple weeks before covid was thought to be here, of similar symptoms. They didn’t do an autopsy, but supposedly it was pneumonia. She was a school bus driver in NC, and my best friend was here. So it looks like maybe she had covid….

If you are reluctant to get a covid vax because you are wary of the Mrna vaccines. There is an alternative old school, protein based vax that is now available. It's just now offered and you have to request the one by Novavax. If you do request this, make sure that's what they give you.

I have no affiliation with any vaccine companies, however, I've done research.

Do whatever, you think is best for you.

Good luck. Stay safe and healthy.

I got shingles - also a mild case - about 2 years ago(?)

Was handled with antibiotics and gabapentin. Tho it was

mild, it was not fun. Had it under a pec and slightly around

to the back. Doc at physical this week said I should still

get the vaccine as it could yet again surface even tho I had

a case once. So do not want that experience (shingles) ever

again....

My younger brother (who’s juuuust 30) got shingles about a month ago. He and his wife initially thought it was poison ivy until it go very painful. Some area - under pec around to the back. I want no part of that.

I got shingles when I was 22 (30 years ago). It was horrible.  It was like being stabbed with hot pokers and then someone turning them. Most painful thing I have been through.

I have had Covid twice. Once before it was everywhere and once after being vaccinated.  The first time was a close call. It lasted for weeks.  There wasn't even a test then to determine what I had. I was notified months later. The second time, it lasted three days and with meds and the vaccine, I was back to work 100% on the fourth day. I haven't had it since.

On the downside, I lost multiple family members to it and two coworkers and it put my workout partner in the hospital for months. He lost his nephew to it. He was 18 and heading to be Georgia Bull Dog football player.  None of them were vaccinated.
