Im the only one that hates these angled end grips that some of these rod companies are using?  Specifically St Croix Phyzyx, & St Croix Mojo Bass Trigon,

Posted

I've handled a Trigon in store and the grip didn't seem bad but I've never fished one so no clue how it actually performs on the water.

It's only St. Croix.

Mojos were nice rods before the bizarre gimmick.

I got 'tied' of fishing grips that I didn't actually care for.

Clearly it's my own fault for purchasing them in the first place.

But at the time, I was more concerned with the blanks,

and figured I'd 'get used to' the split grips.

Never really did.

So this year, I made some changes.

Still have a little work to do to locate the 'right' blank with the grips I like

to replace the few I have left.

But it's going to happen . . . .  soon.

They ruined an otherwise perfect line of rods

I know its stupid but I wouldnt buy them because they look like crap...No matter how sweet the rod is.

With that being said I like the Expride grips.

You could work with a rod builder and get all of those regripped with full cork.  Ill be honest...I still favor split grips but now really only like cork, winn, and maybe some eva.

Just in general or the grips?

I'm sure.

Some of my previous sticks were going to need more than just grips.

The ones in good shape, I Sold.

And a couple of BR members got

deals not often offered here, or anywhere else.

The old Dobyns Champion Extreme full rear grip was the best ever.  For spinning, I love the OG Avid grip.

I think the old Mojos looked like crap with the overly tapered cork split grips and exposed threads on the reel seat.  I was hoping for a Victory and LTB like refresh but we got the space ship grips instead.

I am completely opposite.  I really enjoy fishing with the exposed threads on the real seat, and I hate the skinny grips on the victory and LTB lines.

How is it possible to enjoy the feeling of exposed reel seat threads?  Was this tongue in cheek or do you actually like touching that?

Legit.  I hate the bulkiness of foregrips.  You truly don't even feel the threads.  Not at all uncomfortable.  The way I palm the reel/rod, my index finger feels everything coming down the blank.  Highly increases sensitivity for me instead of a big chunk of cork/eva sitting there.

same I could never get over the purple..although it seems with each new model of mojos they get more and more dark.. the originals were grape juice purple lol

same which is one of the reasons I love the Imx pro line of spinning rods. they have the same skeletal cork grip which I still think is one of the most comfortable ever.
