Huckfinn38 Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Im the only one that hates these angled end grips that some of these rod companies are using? Specifically St Croix Phyzyx, & St Croix Mojo Bass Trigon, Quote
Peacedivision Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I've handled a Trigon in store and the grip didn't seem bad but I've never fished one so no clue how it actually performs on the water. 2 Quote
Huckfinn38 Posted September 6, 2024 Author Posted September 6, 2024 I thought Fenwick was doing it too but St Croix is the only one I can find. I hate how it looks. Quote
Hulkster Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I may be old school but I like plain old Fuji reel seats with cork. 2 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted September 6, 2024 Super User Posted September 6, 2024 I got 'tied' of fishing grips that I didn't actually care for. Clearly it's my own fault for purchasing them in the first place. But at the time, I was more concerned with the blanks, and figured I'd 'get used to' the split grips. Never really did. So this year, I made some changes. Still have a little work to do to locate the 'right' blank with the grips I like to replace the few I have left. But it's going to happen . . . . soon. #fullcork A-Jay 3 Quote

Ill be honest...I still favor split grips but now really only like cork, winn, and maybe some eva. Quote

Huckfinn38 Posted September 6, 2024 Author Posted September 6, 2024 I wouldnt buy the St Croix Rods because of those ugly grips even if the rod was sweet. Quote

The ones in good shape, I Sold. And a couple of BR members got deals not often offered here, or anywhere else. #fleamarketrules 😎 A-Jay Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 6, 2024 Super User Posted September 6, 2024 The old Dobyns Champion Extreme full rear grip was the best ever. For spinning, I love the OG Avid grip. 1 Quote

Bigbox99 Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I think the old Mojos looked like crap with the overly tapered cork split grips and exposed threads on the reel seat. I was hoping for a Victory and LTB like refresh but we got the space ship grips instead. Quote

I really enjoy fishing with the exposed threads on the real seat, and I hate the skinny grips on the victory and LTB lines. Quote

Was this tongue in cheek or do you actually like touching that? Quote
Rockhopper Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Legit. I hate the bulkiness of foregrips. You truly don't even feel the threads. Not at all uncomfortable. The way I palm the reel/rod, my index finger feels everything coming down the blank. Highly increases sensitivity for me instead of a big chunk of cork/eva sitting there. Quote
