Now that I need to replace the two rods that broke this summer I was wondering if anyone has used the Lew’s TP1X Speed Stick HM40 Casting Rods. I’m a Lews guy so I was just wondering if anyone likes this rod? Thanks for your input

I compared the HM40, HM85, & the TP1 Black. Ended up buying 3 TP1 Black only because my local tackle shop had them in stock.

I have a 7' MH TP1X casting rod, i usually prefer cheaper rods but this one was almost half off so i bought it. Its a very stiff/sturdy rod. This was one of my first impressions of Lews rods, i really like their reels but wasnt sure about the rods.

It does excellent paired with my SLX for throwing just about everything, it does probably the best with football jigs, swim jigs, and spinnerbaits for me.

I havent been to kind to this rod, its been thrown on the ground, and the rod tip was also wacked into the ground a few times as well, its also been the victim of lures stuck in rocks and wood. Sometimes i thought for sure the rod wouldve snapped in half the way it bent trying to get them unstuck (i have to get a wooden dowel). Still flawless.

Really like the color too, its something different.

Handle is really great, unlike the KVD rods.... Those make me confused as to why Lews doesnt sell them at Walmart for $30.

Its a nice rod, i really like it. But its not worth the full price, try getting it on sale if you can wait.

Its price is close to St Croix and Dobyns, also Falcon and several others, and at the end of the day its still a Lews rod.

Yeah, but did you have a preference when you compared them?

I had the TP1x (7'3 H F) and TP1 black (7'4 H F). Liked them both but ended up selling the TP1x because I felt like the TP1 black had a bit more feel to it. Both good rods though and that TP1x model was good a good frogging / flipping rod for the price.
