Super User Catt Posted September 4, 2024 Super User Posted September 4, 2024 B.A.S.S. announces the creation of equipment standards related to new technologies that will impact anglers competing on the biggest stage in bass fishing. https://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/bass-ffs-9424.html 5 1 Quote
Super User Koz Posted September 4, 2024 Super User Posted September 4, 2024 A decent compromise with limiting it to one FFS transducer and limiting the total inches in screen size. Also interesting that the LVS62 transducer is not approved for 2025. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted September 4, 2024 Super User Posted September 4, 2024 55” of screen? I have a bedroom tv that’s 53” and that’s huge!! 1 Quote

Haha, wouldn't that be something if you actually saw a 55 inch screen in a boat. Instead of several 12 inchers, just one 55 incher. 🤣 3 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 4, 2024 Super User Posted September 4, 2024 I only have 20 inches. Makes me feel so inadequate. A-Jay 2 5 Quote

Super User WRB Posted September 4, 2024 Super User Posted September 4, 2024 B.A.S.S. compromising with sponsors and Pro’s came up with this interim plan. Sonar technology isn’t going to stop improving their products in a competitive market, they are already years ahead of what’s marketed today. The general fishing public is their market the pro’s are salesman. Tom 4 Quote

Woody B Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 I like their decision. Assuming the 55 inches is total diagonal measurements there's still a bunch of big screens. If my math is correct that's two 16 inch screens, along with a 10" and a 12". For safety reasons I think smaller, or few screens would be good. 1 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted September 5, 2024 Super User Posted September 5, 2024 Just think of the used gear that’s going to flood the market now… Quote

That unit is coming out later this fall. The Lowrance Eagle Eye 9 which is a FFS kit that comes with a dedicated 9 inch screen. MSRP is $1000. It will sell a lot anglers who could not afford the Garmin livescope of Lowrance active target. Quote

Only reason I got an Ecomap 93sv is its the GT-54 transducer model, on sale...and I got financing for 24 months at 8%...otherwise I would be stuck with only my Striker 7cv. Being stuck on SS benefits alone sucks. 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted September 5, 2024 Super User Posted September 5, 2024 I understand. Comparing this new “kit” to Garmin livescope or Lowrance active target where you need dedicated graphs, transducers, and modules, this new eagle 9 is a quite a relief in cost though. You will see a lot of people with it in the next year solely based on the significant reduction in cost, plus no black box module. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted September 5, 2024 Super User Posted September 5, 2024 Shoot I got room to grow with screens.....only rocking 41" and my single ffs transducer up front. I can still add a 10" helix and 360 and I'll still be legal. 1 hour ago, gimruis said: That unit is coming out later this fall. Rather spend 2k and have the original 32 with a 7 or 9" screen myself. Garmin is definitely more affordable then lowrance or hummingbird and more head units as well Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 5, 2024 Super User Posted September 5, 2024 The most interesting part to me is no more power poles. That one has me scratching my head more than anything. 1 Quote

Making a rule against power poles doesn't make sense. Quote

That eliminates power poles, assuming guys want to have a trolling motor. Quote

Basically just a trolling motor and mounting adapter kit with wiring. You can simply add them to your existing poles, or remove them from your poles at any time. As such, the poles by themselves are still perfectly ‘legal’, and you’ll continue to see them on all the boats on tour. 2 Quote
SC53 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 It’s the trolling motors mounted to the power poles they are eliminating, not the pole themselves. Only one trolling motor allowed and it has to beat the front of the boat. 14 hours ago, MN Fisher said: Being stuck on SS benefits alone sucks. Amen @MN Fisher, we’re right there with you. 1 Quote

I see. @fishballer06 seems to think the actual shallow water anchors themselves are prohibited. Quote
