Susky River Rat Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 I had to give up racing motocross because of a back injury. I started fishing every chance I could after. I can’t say I really have any other hobbies. I am to poor for that. I do love walking my dog and engaging in activities with him. I can’t really say that’s a hobby. Winter time I usually veg out on video games. Once I can be outside fishing that’s what I do. i guess I live a pretty boring life 3 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted September 5, 2024 Global Moderator Posted September 5, 2024 @Susky River Rat, just put ice in your drink and fish off the dock if the water doesn’t freeze 😂 2 Quote

Super User clayton86 Posted September 5, 2024 Super User Posted September 5, 2024 Getting back into paintball after a 16 year break. I do a lot of predator hunting October till end of march. Waterfowl a bit also but most my buddies I did it with all stopped and it’s a lot of work setting up decoys just for myself especially when the limit is only 2 mallards and you’ve limited out in 1 shot at first light and they weren’t water swatted just a lucky shot at 40 haha. I do a lot of reloading and shooting also. Was building rods for a while also but that’s slowed way down no one can afford custom rods now even when I barely charge over cost of parts. gym 5-6 days a week but like a jay said it’s more a lifestyle than hobby. 1 Quote

Had one in a jeep and it was cheap horsepower. Just need any old iron block out of a late model truck, LS top end, and computer. Cheap way to get 450 horsepower. I also need to do a trans swap. It has a 350, but its just a 3 spd. 60 to 65 mph tops otherwise the motor is singing. Definitely needs overdrive. 2 Quote
JackstrawIII Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I make knives (@danfreda on IG) and enjoy shooting/reloading. I play guitar and do some golfing when I can't fish. Also back in grad school, which puts a damper on all of the above. Quote

Super User king fisher Posted September 6, 2024 Super User Posted September 6, 2024 At one time my whole life was hobbies. I worked to get enough money to go play. I would guide in Alaska from late April to the end of October. Go water fowl hunting all of Nov, December, and part of January. I would then go Hang gliding and Paragliding until time to guide the spring bear season in Alaska, and start all over again. I also owned a Piper cub, but I always thought of flying as transportation, not really a hobby. Then I got a full time captains job in Mexico, and I wasn't able to find time to hunt anymore. Then I got married and leaving every weekend to go gliding wasn't going to be an option. I sold my gliders, and bought a kayak. I then found a lake I could bass fish at that was close to home. The bass fishing is good, and I am very happy concentrating on only one hobby. Bass fishing was my true passion when I was a kid, and now that I am back bass fishing, I feel like a kid again. 4 Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted September 10, 2024 Super User Posted September 10, 2024 I had a lot of hobbies. Then I got married lol. Some of it I don’t do anymore due to various reasons besides marriage. I used to play church league softball for many years. I used to camp a lot too, but that always included fishing or hunting with it. I have been an avid Civil war buff , but not as much recently. I enjoy reading historical novels occasionally , Louis Lamour especially. I used to have a vegetable garden every year, but just can’t keep it up at present working 2 jobs. I love hunting but haven’t been able to go in over 5 years now. I have hung onto picking banjo.( and fishing, of course) 7 Quote
thediscochef Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 I spend a lot of time doing this these days. 4 bands and filling in with a fifth. Of the four, the main one is the Shane Hamilton Band. We will be at Lewisville Western Days opening the festival for Ashley McBryde. Been playing since I was 8. I modified this bass with new electronics and hardware. I play through a super bassman which (in combo with a 4x10 cab) weighs about 130lbs and is 300 watts all tube. 6 kt88s in the chassis, there is simply no replacement for that tone. I also build PCs and figure out how to make old hardware work with newer stuff. That's all coming to an end with Win11 though. I have an unhealthy number of Linux laptops lol 3 Quote
MinDoFmejiA Posted January 8 Posted January 8 My favorite hobby besides fishing is cooking. I thoroughly love trying out new recipes. As mutch as I love smoking meat I haven't bin able to in a while cause of travel and apartments. So I have bin learning to make things like lasagna, authentic shepherds pie, I even made ratatouille the other day. 2 Quote

thediscochef Posted January 8 Posted January 8 3 hours ago, T-Billy said: Wooo.... Gotta dig deep in the wallet come re-tube time. We don't like to think about that lol It can take 6550s too. Comes with those stock but I prefer the kt88. Just have to be careful on install, kts have a little less clearance. I used to retube amps. Nice thing about the super bassman is it has an auto bias circuit (v2 thankfully) so swaps aren't such a task. Essentially able to treat it like a cathode bias 6v6 or el84, computer does the rest. But yes, a full set of six replacement power tubes is about $330 1 Quote
