ksdog Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 What are the advantages of getting one over the other ? Aren't they basically the same reel ? There seem to be quite the number of guys using the scorpion. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 21, 2007 Super User Posted January 21, 2007 Only differeneces are the length of the handle (shorter in the Scorpion) and the 4x4 SVS Braking system in the Scorpion. You can find GREAT deals on the Scorpion on ebay. Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 21, 2007 Super User Posted January 21, 2007 1.- If you are a fan of adjusting the braking with the Scorpion you don 't need to unscrew the sideplate, it can be done with the external adjustment. 2.- If saving $50 dollars or more and free shipping purchasing a Scorpion Mg isn 't an advantage I don 't know what else could it be. earthworm77 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Absolutely go with the Scorpion Mg. Quote
The_Natural Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 As Raul said, you can get the 1000mg for a lot cheaper. I like the longer handle on my mg50's, but I would have gone with the 1000 if they were available for $184 from Ginrinpeche like they are now. Quote
Aaron Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Sorry to jack the thread but I had a quick question is the Scorpion ya'll are referring to the red one or the silver one? I am looking for a new reel and the scorpion is sounding pretty good. Also what is the differnece between the scorpion 1000 mg and the metanium mg? Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 26, 2007 Super User Posted January 26, 2007 Also what is the differnece between the scorpion 1000 mg and the metanium mg? The Metanium MG is equivalent to the old Chronarch Mg, both models are discontinued, the Metanium is a larger reel than the Scorpion Mg. Quote
