Wonder if this little domino starts a chain reaction. Was interesting watching a live podcast with tackle warehouse where they were walking on egg shells but did say the obvious… if there is one technique that dominates this much obviously sales are going to go down.

It will not be fully banned in the elites , maybe in the BPT to try and make a splash since that tour seems to be gasping for air. NPFL is a fringe league at best , this is like arena football banning tackles below the waist, maybe some people take notice but little to no effect on the “real” NFL the people actually care about.  I don’t care either way, but it really is becoming an electronics arms race at this point,

With MLF, BASS, and NPFL, the actual commodity is the angler.  Get a good list of anglers and a good number of them, then sponsors can't help but go to the best groups of commodities.  The ugly issues with MLF and the whining on BASS have left an opening in the "market" that we all want (good anglers, skills that we all can have, integrity and good payouts for the anglers).  It's now run by a great guy who is local to me (scary smart businessman without the ick love of money).  Look at the roster, there's a lot of sticks already there (including "young guys").

With Garmin and Lowrance being significant sponsors, I’m not sure they’re going to ban one of their sponsors’ key products. I could be wrong.

How about allowing it’s use for pre fishing prior to the tournament, but on tournament days, prohibit it.

That would still allow these anglers to use and promote electronics, but force them to avoid staring at screens for entire events on camera.

Just a thought. The pro muskie tour did exactly this and it seems to be working for them.

This would get my vote 100%

Seems like this can even work going forward for 'new technologies' as well, potentially.

Don't remove new technology from the sport completely but let the guys do their best in practice to sort a lake out with state of the art stuff and then on derby day - go bass fishing using your instincts and accumulated skill based on your knowledge of how bass react and relate to their food and their environments and how to efficiently present artificial lures to capitalize on this knowledge.

I think it would be great for the new guys who are masters of it AND great for the masters of bass fishing who don't use it but can't compete when it's allowed during a tournament.

This is misleading, they didn't ban it. They prohibited the use. Yes you're not allowed to use it wasn't banned.  They left the door open for the next year. Prohibited for the 2025 season yes, banned no. I think it's stupid people are so up in arms about it.  Maybe they need a circuit where everyone gets a participation trophy or ribbon.  We won't even score fish. Be like youth sports where they don't keep score, everyone gets to bat, no strike outs because that way it's fair.

They aren't masters if they can't compete with it or without it. If you watch Christie won a classic with it....no complaints.  But the min some rookies start winning, not fair. If your job is tournament fishing you see what's coming down the line. You stay up with technology.  You learn new things in the off-season.  That's your job.  If you get beat because you didn't learn new techniques and the technology as some of the hungry newer guys that's on them.

The big 3 electronic companies aren't going to proverbial cut off their noses to spite their faces.     It's important to remember that those companies sell other products besides FFS units.    Shallow water anchor systems, traditional sonar, maps, and GPS systems, and high dollar/high tech trolling motors.  The combo of those other business verticals I'm sure outweigh the sales of FFS units.

@PhishLI, Mr Fuller sounds a little upset, guess he lost a few friends/customers over that.

I enjoyed watching the video.  Gained a lot of respect for Brad Fuller.  I hope they are successful.

Good for the NPFL.

In every sport tech sometimes comes around that changes the sport into something lesser than what it should be.

In F1 they don’t allow active suspensions or traction control. Neither does NASCAR or IndyCar.

MLB doesn’t allow aluminum bats.

Golf limits what kinds of balls and clubs can be used.

Bass Fishing shouldn’t be anything different. Garmin and Lowrance will still sell these units until and if Fisheries managers ban them. And it’s not like this is the only thing they sell.

I have heard B.A.S.S. Will be doing something about it this too.

NPFL was the first to show the live sonar screen on their coverage from what I understand , now going back the other direction

I’ve never watched because I think you have to pay

I just had to Google what the NPFL was...

Haha! Their owner referred to them as the stepchild of the industry I believe . Blaukat is of course now calling them the leader of the industry

They have a free option with adds but they don’t have that many sponsors so they don’t have that many adds.   The great thing is they show the FFS screen and will continue for two more tournaments. 🙂

Well guess I need to add a 360 to my bow now and a bow transducer.  They just trying to make me buy more electronics because I consolidated it into one with my 32lvs. Making fishing too expensive now......lmao

Pretty simple, have a tournament where we know that ffs would be the main player and ban it let’s see who wins. Wouldn’t that be fun? Interesting to see how many first year anglers are fishing championship Sunday. Maybe a bunch maybe none but if I was competing I’d love that challenge

But his take is far more rational than Milliken who is melting down.

LOL

Rest assured Kyoyo Fujita is having a case of high blood pressure over this too.  Not sure how you swear in japanese but that's likely what's coming out of his mouth.

Milliken: “But the same guys will be on the top of the leaderboard”
