newapti5 Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Just bought a used JDM Daiwa Z2020 that comes with a custom handle. Does anyone know about this brand? It's "standard" with a cross marking. I wonder if it's a name brand that's worth keeping. 1 Quote
Super User Solution bulldog1935 Posted September 1, 2024 Super User Solution Posted September 1, 2024 Standard Plus is Studio Composite, a late out of production model https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/1663 (link Daiwa w/o knobs) The knobs are S/C R31. current RC-SC EX Plus, XL29 knobs If you ever get the bug to swap knobs, be careful. S/C sells their knobs for Shimano-A/Daiwa-S, but the knobs they use on their handle are 5-mm, and longer knob spindle than Abu/Doyo. The one vendor that calls out S/C knob for S/C is fishingshop.kiwi 3 1 Quote

It's good to know the tricky S/C knob size, but lucky, I have both 4mm and 5mm bearings/washers. 1 Quote
ABU is overpriced Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 I have three. Easily one of the best fishing companies there is. I also have one of their swimbait rods, and its the absolute best big baits rod i've even held in my hands. S tier company, and i am glad all their stuff is still made in Japan. 2 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted September 1, 2024 Super User Posted September 1, 2024 @newapti5 I just checked kiwi They don't have stock of knobs that fit your handle. The knobs marked D/S or Shimano Shared are 4-mm for Shimano-A/Daiwa-S. https://fishingshop.kiwi/category/Reels/Reels-Tune-Repair/Studio-composite/?page=2 e.g., this is the OOS knob that would fit - but this is still the best vendor to watch for the next knob run. https://fishingshop.kiwi/STUDIO-COMPOSITE-EVA-Knob-R29XL-Black/ 1 Quote
