Just pulled the trigger on a Loomis rod I’ve been after. Have heard great things about ALF. Anyone have experience with their “Mint Condition” used rods?

Thought I read somewhere their Mint rods are actually new but due to vendor price structures, they can’t discount new so they sell as used…hence the discount.

Any experiences to share?

I dunno about their 'Mint' rods, but I picked up a couple 'Excellent' Victorys that I couldn't find anything wrong with...no blemishes, straight-line guides, unstained-intact cork, etc.

I have no problems getting used gear from ALF...I think they under-rate the condition sometimes.

Haven't purchased a used rod from ALF but if their "mint" is anything like a 9/10 used Loomis from hookup tackle it will be brand new, maybe missing tags, and Loomis will consider it a new rod for warranty registration purposes.

I’ve bought a few in excellent condition, I’d say it was a close rating. But the shipping out of Evansville is horrific. Not ALFC’s fault I've had 5 rods delivered completely broke in two but only actually breaking one rod.
However 4 of those were Loomis rods this year alone. If you do/should have any difficulty, call them rather than doing emails. Sometimes I will drive there with my son to trade rods in, no way will I risk my rods mailing.. it’s also why I don’t sell my rods online requiring shipping. I live about 90 miles from them.

I bought a mint condition NRX+ 903c from them and it was as described. Looked like a brand new rod, and was able to register it as such on the Loomis site as well.

Their ratings are usually accurate. I’ve bought a handful of “excellent” rods that still had tags or plastic on grips.

Grabbed a Used Conquest from them a few years ago, looked brand new to me w/ shrink wrap and pristine cork.  I trust their ratings.

I’ve only purchased a reel. It looked as if it was never used.

I bought an 'excellent' rod from them and it looked like 'new no tags' to me. I'd buy from them again.

*UPDATE*

Received the rod yesterday. Can say with 100% certainty, it’s a NWOT rod that came in factory bag (minus tags).

Saved a cool $200 over a “new” one and ready to order another 😎
