There was a story about Floyd Mabry in Bassmaster magazine in the 70's and how he fished a Bomber in the trees on Toledo Bend.  Pistol grip rod and 20# Stren.  I do it the same way today.  I only have 3 left.

Can't believe anyone said tubes. More bass are caught around here on a tube than any other lure. I was fishing them back when they were called Gitzits.

Does anyone under 40 throw tubes? (I'm 47) and I never stopped.

I ran out of those Uncle Josh pork products a long time ago.  Now I use a plastic stick bait on the back of my hair jigs.

I haven't used them yet, but apparently these are a pretty good replacement for Uncle Josh:

The Original Culprit worm will turn 50 soon.  Released in 1977 and still kickin' bass.

I didn't know that. I know it's a good looking worm. I've not fished it a bunch, but have a few packs.

It’s that kind of thinking that keeps guys from using inline spinners. I’ve caught nearly every species of freshwater fish that swims in lakes and rivers with spinners. Muskies, pike, largemouth, smallmouth, panfish, stripers, you name it. An old school lure that is easy to use and catches fish.

DITTO. Me, caught a few LMB with Rooster Tails, Panther Martins, Mepps and Blue Fox. Keep a separate tackle box for them.

From my dad's tacklebox.... Some of these are instantly recognizable and would still work! :cool7:

Anyone still use a Johnson Spoon in the grass?

If you are relating to the Silver Minnow, I have 10 of them, various colors, good as new;  have not been used since moving to Bull Shoals 13 years ago.  No grass here, only rocks.

Yeah, the one that came with plastic worm rigged on the back. I used to get strikes with those as a kid but the hook up rate wasn't great.
