Super User Mobasser Posted August 22, 2024 Super User Posted August 22, 2024 I'm not a fan of using glue to attach plastic baits to lead head jigs. Depending on the hook shank keeper, I need to do it at times. I'm looking for the best possible glue for this. Needing something thick, and that dries quickly. What is the best glue for attaching plastic baits to lead head jigs? 1 Quote
Super User Solution MN Fisher Posted August 22, 2024 Super User Solution Posted August 22, 2024 I never go on the water without my Bob Smith gap filling CA Some places order it in bulk and put their own home label on it. BSI CA is the best out there no matter what 'flavor' of it you get. 3 Quote
Peacedivision Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 I use loctite gel, not the fastest drying but if you leave whatever was glued in sunlight it's rock hard in a few minutes. could also use accelerator spray I assume but I've never bothered. 1 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted August 22, 2024 Super User Posted August 22, 2024 Get the 'gel control'. Works great. 7 Quote

Super User Spankey Posted August 22, 2024 Super User Posted August 22, 2024 I’ve never used any product like that related to fishing because in my opinion the smell is strong and would think it has to be offensive to bass. But these adhesives seem to be popular. Quote

I'm not a bass, but I can't smell anything once it dries which is pretty fast. 2 Quote
looking45 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 What head are you using? Check to see if the heads are available with a screw lock you’ll lose the head before the worm comes off a screw lock Quote
TheSwearingAngler Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 I also like the Gel Control… I’ve caught 50+ fish in a Ned rig without losing the plastic before losing the whole thing. So no, the smell does not scare the fish. 3 Quote

Zcoker Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Plus II on the Loctite Gel Control. Odorless, easy on, no mess, no fuss container. I use the liquid stuff for sealing wooden lures before painting. 2 Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 23, 2024 Super User Posted August 23, 2024 I don’t glue soft plastics to jigs that don’t have keepers! What I do is hold the jig hook at the bend in a vice. Tie on 20 lb mono line wrap about 5 to 6 spiral turns tightly onto the hook straight shank then tie off with a double hitch knot. Super glue the wrapped line and knots. Let dry then cut off the line leaving about 1/8 ends. This will hold soft plastic firmly on the hook shank without tearing. It. Tom 1 5 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted August 26, 2024 Super User Posted August 26, 2024 I keep bottles of GG Gel all over the place. The stuff works so well. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted August 26, 2024 Super User Posted August 26, 2024 I don't glue most plastics, but I've been using LocTite for some Elaztech stuff when the keeper is weak, or on an EWG jighead like the owner finesse heads. Quote

To answer the original question, I put on rubber gloves and glue all of my TRD Neds to the jighead at home. Quote

I don’t find that to be true. I know cyanoacrylates cure with moisture, but I find breathing on it like you’re fogging glasses to be better. the gel version though is thick viscosity and that makes a thicker layer. The outside will cure instantly but the inside doesn’t. So I just plan ahead and glue them at home Quote
