WackyWormNedRig Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 This summer has been tough. I had one really good outing this year where I caught 20 fish. Still have all of September left. Quote

I've always had a knack for catching bass. It helps to have a sneaky canoe. I get so close to them. 1 Quote
river-rat Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 It's been hotter than all get out here in south Louisiana with excessive heat advisories of heat index temps reaching 110+ most days. I made a couple of daytime trips and caught a few but nothing that would make me want to keep going. I've done the vast majority of my fishing at night in a couple of the oxbow lakes I frequent. Some nights have been good and some nights not so much but at least it's tolerable. I'm waiting for the first break in the heat which is usually around the third week of September before I start back fishing during the daytime. Quote
BluegillsTightlines Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Hot as heck at times, but I've found a spot at the lake that helps shield off the sun and significantly reduces surface heating. The east end of this lake is coveted by a lot of very thick and tall trees, making for some nice shade where the temperatures fall about 8-9 degrees compared to the open. That 8-9 degree cooler differential makes a massive difference both for me as far as having the stamina to stay for a few hours, and for the fish to come up and be active and forage. I have not beat my PB this year, but I have definitely caught the most 4-5 lb bass I have in a single year already just this summer, and I am beyond thrilled about that. Quote
