castaway Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I was wondering if you have a Jr membership, or posse apprenticeship ? ;DI did some trading and ended up with a a 2006 Shimano Metanium XT reel.According to Professor of Japanese tackle( Raul), its is basically the same as the domestic chronarch B.I can't wait until good weather gets here. :)Ivan Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 22, 2007 Super User Posted January 22, 2007 Congratulations! This is no "time of ownership" requirement to join the posse and you can still fish (some) other equipment, too! After you fish your new gear a few times, post a review and tell us about the new reel. I bet you are going to like it, a lot. Good luck! Quote
Super User Alpster Posted January 22, 2007 Super User Posted January 22, 2007 Hey castaway, don't tell anyone, but I have a couple of ABU reels in the closet that I fish with now & then. Welcome to the posse and congrats on the new reel. Let us know how you like it. Ronnie Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 23, 2007 Super User Posted January 23, 2007 I've been part of the Shimano posse since they were introduced in America Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 23, 2007 Super User Posted January 23, 2007 Catt is THE charter member! Be sure to take a look at the other thread Catt started. He posted a picture of his first Shimano. Too Cool! Quote

Super User Alpster Posted January 23, 2007 Super User Posted January 23, 2007 WHEN DID SHIMANO COME TO THE USofA? Their bicycle parts were around in the late sixties, I used to work in a custom bicycle shop as a kid and we used their parts regularly. According to their website they got into fishing in the early seventies. I have a Bantam Mag reel that I bought in 1980. Ronnie Quote
