Bdhawk04 Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Just curious if an excellent shape '72 Lund VFR 17 is still worth looking at? It would serve purpose of fishing and family fun. Maybe 10 times a year. It's 50 years old but in great shape, will these boats keep going strong with care and maintenance? Lake and rivers in the midwest is primary usage. Thanks Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 15, 2024 Super User Posted August 15, 2024 Lund did not get their excellent reputation for making junk. If it's in excellent shape and you think the price is fair, take a chance. 2 Quote
Motoboss Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Welcome to the site, the most comprehensive place for all things fishing! Age doesn’t determine condition. If “excellent shape “ is a reality, then buy it. The hull will out live the motor, seats, gauges and such so if everything works,,,go for it. Canadian outfitters have boats older than that in use everyday. Quote
Super User Solution MN Fisher Posted August 27, 2024 Super User Solution Posted August 27, 2024 Lund (and Alumacraft) originated up here where the lakes are big and occasionally rough. If the hull appears to be in good condition, I'd have no problems buying that boat. My own is a 1972 Alumacraft that I gutted and rebuilt the interior...it's still solid as a rock. A Lund hull was also on my list when I was looking for a boat. 1 Quote
Bdhawk04 Posted August 29, 2024 Author Posted August 29, 2024 Thanks for the responses. I ended up purchasing the boat. Picking up from Okoboji this weekend. Excited to get my boys out fishing on it next weekend. Will post a pic later. 5 Quote
