To counter that I guess is why wouldn't anyone want to buy it? I love when companies try new things. There is so much stuff out there that all looks and feels the same so I am glad St Croix is actually trying to put new stuff out there while also revamping their staple of lines.

Personally I am a big fan of the trigon handles and love the Physyx rod I do own.

To each his own and I’m glad you enjoy your rods.  In my personal opinion they are moving more towards gimmicky Lews/Abu/13 fishing style designs and “radical!” rod names that are just cringe.  Do we really need a fishing rod named “WARHORSE?”

in trying to chase trends they have lost their way and a long-time customer. once again just my opinion.

It's funny, but not in a good way.  I see so many times on these forums people dump all over companies for not being original.  "Oh, new colors....whatever...", "Oh, they copied so-and-so....whatever",  "Oh, this has been done before....whatever", "Oh, that's not new, they stole it from blah blah blah....whatever"

Then, when a company introduces something new, y'all dump all over it!  LOL

It's not just St. Croix.  I've seen y'all do it on virtually every company out there.  There's just no pleasing you!

Unless, of course, you're a Z-Man pro-staffer.  Then it's INCREDIBLE!! LOL!

I’m sorry for being so sour Glenn, I should just keep my opinion to myself regarding St. Croix, I just loved everything about them. I loved that they were “boring”but maybe I’m in the extreme minority.  I hope everyone enjoys their rods!

I’m not dumping on St. Croix because they stuck to their guns and made a line of rods which didn’t fit with the mainstream. I’m dumping on them because they have consistently produced rods and especially reels over the last few years I don’t want to see.

Ive asked for an updated legend elite or x line and been rewarded with what I consider garbage. I never wanted or needed triangle grip casting rods. I never asked for overpriced graphite reels.

They cut the torzite guide train out of the legend line, butchered what could be a reel launch with aluminum frames and have ignored their longtime customers.

The reality is I don’t even recommend St. Croix anymore. For someone who’s fished their rods for a decade that’s all that needs to be said.

Well that’s certainly your right to not buy or recommend the company.

But you don’t get to speak for me.

I do agree with you on the dumbing down on components on the top tier rod lines, Loomis did that for years. Loomis has reversed that trend as of now.

Rod companies are many, they have to probe the market with new technology and for better or worse try and innovate. I’ve owned many St. Croix rods beginning in 98. They were incredibly good rods back then but my heart has always been with Loomis. I have several GLX, IMX , rods and I’m happy with them.

I have only had 1 problem out of my all time favorite flipping rod and that was after 10 years of use the guide epoxy cracked on all guides (Avid with sic ) then turned yellow. It was an awesome rod and I sold it as is..

I have two St. Croix rods now..

The Avid Seafoam green has 100’s of saltwater fish on it and has been a great stix.
The Legend Tournament Glass rod is a very nice rod but has limited use on it. I throw 1/4 crank baits with it.

It is what it is. IMG_1289.jpeg.927dc96c1f93a1b2284962de16a2645e.jpegIMG_1290.jpeg.2c0208c353e592bbd22488ca6fba4099.jpegIMG_1291.jpeg.e3ef6882e52f71fea6a75f8eceed3fe6.jpegIMG_1292.jpeg.4764f697f9588ff5d1cd9d7661bbf6ca.jpeg

They are innovative that’s for sure. I can handle the new products, no problem, just keep the old ones too. Their customer service is the best in the industry. What would “please me” is for them to address the adhesive issues they have been having on their reel seats. That would be nice. 😊

My observation is that opinions against a sponsored manufacturer get scrutinized by the moderators.

Speak as you want. Glen and mods won’t restrict your voice if you’re speaking from experience.
