$1,100 Swimbait!?!

Back in 1993 few weeks after I caught my PB 19.3 lb bass I stopped at Gallions in Castiac to get a deli sandwich after fishing and Gary Harrison was ordering his lunch. Gary loves to talk and told me Ken Huddleston was delivering his hand carved Trout lure in a few minutes. So we stayed and ate our lunch outside, I was curious why Gary was so excited ( he was known to snuff coke) so not sure what is saying.

Ken shows up with a shoe box of his lures and Gary wants to buy all of them but doesn’t the cash. Ken wants $60 for the 7” trout and $75 for the 9”. Gary ask Jim Gallion to set aside the 9” until he gets some money. I but buy one smaller 7” not knowing anything about this new secret lure. Should of bought all them!

Week later later I go into Gallions for  a sandwich and Jim ask me if I want to sell the wooden trout I bought, he offered me $90 and a free lunch. Haven’t fished the Castiac trout yet but turn the offer down.

I lost the lure to a Striper at Pyramid that summer, got into a debris fence by the dam.

Today the early Castiac wooden trout sells for over $800 if you find it.

$1,100 Limited Mother could be a very good investment!

I bet if I had an $1100 swim bait I wouldn't need all this evil sonar equipment.

I've casted off its little sister, the RM Mother and it was a sickening experience....  If it wasn't in January with mid 40 water temp I would have went swimming after it!

 

I can't imagine casting off a Chaser.

I would go swimming.  40 degree water temp is very cold, but nothing compared to the freezing reception I would get from my wife when she found out I threw a $400 fishing lure into the lake.

I feel downright spendy when I throw a 1$ piece of plastic on a 5$ jig knowing it will spend eternity stuck in a laydown on a point. 🤭🤭🤭

But it's made from natural wood!  So the materials cost alone will make it much more expensiver than a similar bait made from an inferior product, like balsa.  😜

Hypothermia is temporary, but the story would last forever (or until you died from hypothermia).

This thread has forced me to re-evaluate my concern about throwing a senko instead of a dinger.

I have a hard enough time paying $10 or $15 on lures let alone the $200 for the rod and the $200 for the reel just to fish it. But Christmas is coming. 
 

My wife just said NO not getting it,so I guess I’ll stick to the $10-$15 lures
