Pitch,

I see it's your third post, so I will say WELCOME. I like a longer rod, 7' MH with a fast tip for Senkos. The longer rod in heavy cover makes it easier to ease them over laydowns and lilly pads, etc.  In deeper water, the longer rod helps with hooksets. I use 50# power pro for almost everything. JMHO

I like to use senko's on spinning gear

The set up is an older one and low $$ but works great for me.

I use a Quantum Heat Reel

8# P-lin floroclear

and a 6 foot Pinnical  Dead Bolt M/ fast tip

I agree with Alpster,I use a 7'0" G-loomis MH and a  fast tip. Or a Bass Pro Extreme 6'6" MH. As for line I like 8lb.-12lb. Vanish Or Big Game,

well this question is tricky for me ..... this is the reason .... the senko is a versitile bait and there isnt many wrong answers ,,,, unless you tell us how you fish a senko .... see ive used spinning and casting tackle .... for me ( IMO ) spinning is better for a wacky rig ....  that being said ,,, i perfer casting gear when tossin tex rigged weightles senkos .....  reason ,, i like the heavyer lines (15-20lb ) when tex rigging senkos ... as for wacky rigs i prefer spinning ( just like a liter set up)   ;D now i did start fishing senkos with a st croix avid med fast 6ft6 spinning rod ,,, i didnt have much trouble .... still i prefer using the 7ft st croix avid med-hev casting rod ... just feel better about it ,, and like a heaver line .... i tend to fish alot of timber ( heavy cover ) mainly so i feel better with the heavyer line ... some like a liter line /// this is where its tricky .... lol .... just depends on how you fish and what you prefer .... at any rate ,,,, fish the senko its a killer bait ..... :D

I use a Team Allstar TAS815CWW wacky worm special.  I'm using a BPS Pro Qualifier LP reel this season with 10lb XT line.  Very nice technique specific rod.

Sounds like everyone has some nice stuff  :D

I throw senkos on a 7ft medium Techna AV with an Abu 1600 Morrum Ultra Mag spooled w/ 12lb Cuda.  Works for the situations I get in.

7 Foot st. Croix premier with a shimano sonora spinning reel spooled with 6lb test pline Fluorocarbon (Not fluoroclear).

I am pretty simalar to RW, I love using lighter line.  But his stuff is a lot nicer!  ;D

I like to pitch senkos.  Up until now I have used a Curado 201BSF on an 7ft MF Avid, my rig for next season is a Chronarch 51mg on 7ft MF Kistler Helium.  I plan to drop my line down to 10lb XT.

My senko slinger is a 7' MH Johhny Morris rod with a Quantum Energy PT 7:1 reel, spooled with 12lb test Transition.

I have one of those Daiwa Light & Tough 6'3" rods. I love it. It may be the best rod, for the money, out there right now. I use mine for Ikas with a Daiwa Millionaire reel and 10lb Transition.

Cheers,

I use a Berkley Lightnin' Rod in 7' MH fast tip for just about everything. I can't afford a lot of combos so the low price of the rod suits me. Plus it's so versatile. It's my goto for texas rigged senkos in 5 or 7". For finesse situations where I use a 3" senko weightless I like to use a 6'6" MH custom spinning rod (it feels more medium than heavy) with a spyderco spinning reel on it and 8 to 10lb test.

Same exact set up for me...pricey...but without comparison (well very few comparisons). If you are just starting out or have qualms about spending that much money on gear like most folks (and rightfully so), I suggest a Shimano Stradic FH 2500 spinning reel paired with a 7' Medium power BPS Extreme XPS spooled with the same Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultrasoft #6.

Those rods are all too long, a 6' rod is perfect for senkos

I didnt know there was a law about senkos and rods..

I have thrown them on my 15' 5" light action steelhead rod and I Do just as good.

Tell me out of curousity?

Why is a rod too long???

My favorite for 5''Senkos is a G Loomis BCR803 and a Shimano Calcutta 251 for a baticaster setup.

For a spinning reel I use a Quantum Energy Pti 20 and a M St. Croix 6'6''Avid or a ML 6' Avid.
