Ryan N Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Caught this short stubby guy, the biggest fish I’ve caught in weeks. Bass in my pond are incredibly finicky and I needed to find a true weedless lure with the presentation like a ned rig… The fluke!!! First time tying one on, it got slammed 3 times and landed one. 13 Quote
Super User Bird Posted August 8, 2024 Super User Posted August 8, 2024 Flukes get hit but hookups are hit and miss. Try a Gamakatsu 4.0 superline screw lock hook 🪝 1 Quote

Bazoo Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Nice! I've found a solid 2-3 second delay helps hookups greatly with a fluke. I normally use a 3/0 round bend worm hook. I do skin hook it, but I try to be ever so light with that. 2 Quote
Brian11719 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Congrats! Flukes are one of my favorites. I also like the 4/0 Gamakatsu screwlock but I like the 1/16 oz version to get a little more weight on them (without impacting the action too much). I also like the 6th sense version since the colors are a little nicer but one of my goals for the next 2 months is to find out if the lure with my personal color preference (6th sense) is really going to beat a tried and true fluke in the 'not as great of a color but the bass might not give a crap anyway' color. I also like the weightless Gamakatsu screwlock hooks but I use caffeine shads with that setup and it's a nice one to throw around docks since it has a bit more of a shimmy to it and they have a couple of good shad looking colors. And it’s weedless as well, so you can throw them in the nastiest areas. Only bad thing is soft plastics are exhaustible and I go through them pretty quickly Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 13, 2024 Super User Posted August 13, 2024 Nice! When it cools down here in the fall the bass will be going after flukes more. Quote
