harshman Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Is this going to be a unerversal rod and reel? if so I would throw 10-14 lb (mono) range depending on how nasty the areas are that you fish could also play a key factor as well. If you are fishing alot of rocks and trees I would lean more towards 14lbs myself but the 10lbs would give your baits the ability to have most of their natural movement. NBR Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I use 12 or 14# Berkley XL on nearly all of my bait casters. Was using XT but found the XL casts a little better. I do have to watch for nicks and retie a bit more frequently. The water I fish has little or no wood, no lily pads and few weeds but it has lots and lots of rocks. Quote
