Jimmy Wallhanger Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Wife and Kids and I went away for the weekend rented a cottage with a dock so I brought my boat. Wife and I managed to sneak out at 530 am for 3 hours. We got on a nice senko bite and my wife caught her first bass a LM dink but it was great. I was en fuego for about 30 minutes catching some small bass 1.5 to 2.5 pounders, but it was great as I was teaching my wife how to recognize when the fish has actually taken the senko and how to set the hook properly as she was getting alot of bites but getting to anxious with the hookset. Then it gets to be 8amish and of course the time is getting to be time to get back to the cabin as my mom was watching the kids. My wife does not know "last cast" is actually about a 30 minute time period. So then I say "Ok this is the last cast for real......" I bomb the watermelon red fleck T rigged senko to the heavens and it hits the water and no lie 2 seconds later a 3 pounder jumps out of the water about 2 feet flapping its tail as the sun is shining on it, I did't even feel him take the senko he must have hit it from below and just kept going into the air like a champ. It was like something from a movie... the fish goes back into the water I set the hook and just start laughing in amazement as it was actually the "last cast" and I say to her "This is why we fish baby" I land the fish and just laugh at him and toss him back into the water. Was an amazing moment I got to share with my wife that I will never forget. I had been in a massive slump bass fishing and had been targeting perch just to be able to catch something, this weekend I got my mojo back and am happy. 15 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted August 5, 2024 Global Moderator Posted August 5, 2024 Yep, that’s something you won’t soon forget, and probably longer for your wife! Mike 2 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted August 5, 2024 Super User Posted August 5, 2024 Good story. Ty. Hopefully next time, it will be your wife that hooks the memorable one. You'll have her hooked, too. No exaggeration, but I more clearly remember every detail of all of my wife's 6+ fish than any of my own. And if she hadn't landed a 3+ the first time out, I might not have had her as a reliable fishing partner all these years. 1 Quote
Pat Brown Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 I love this story so much! Congratulations on getting your fire back. I rarely experience last cast glory because I can't stop casting. 🥹🥹🥹🥹😂😂😂😂 1 1 Quote
