I am new to fishing and am in the market for a new reel.i have found the daiwa regal to be be right for me but I see two versions the yellow acented one with 9 bearings and a blueish gray one with 6 bearing.acording to the daiwa website the six bearings one is the 2024 model.why would the newer one have less? Dose that make it worse? Wich one should I buy?

I dont have the new model but I have several of the previous model that you mentioned.

It's a decent reel. Really no complaints for the price point.

The new model probably have less bearings to save on manufacturing cost. Doesn't make it any lesser of a reel. I'm going to assume it's just as smooth and reliable the older model.

You can't really go wrong with any of the Daiwa LT series spinning reels.

The new Daiwa reels with this body platform were upgraded across the board with zaion V. Some of the old daiwa reels had extra bearings like on the spool shaft and spool so maybe they cut out bearings that weren't necessary.  I just got the JDM Legalis with all the upgrades,  I would recommend this  if you don't mind importing. Same price but it has a screw in handle and bearings in all the right places. I got mine off digitaka a few months ago.

Dont get too worried over beating count.  What matter is quality and placement.  Regal is a good reel.

I thought Legalis used hex pin?

The 2024 JDM Legalis has a screw in handle. It hasn't come out in the US yet. Might not come out because it's pretty much a US Exceler.
