Super User F14A-B Posted August 3, 2024 Super User Posted August 3, 2024 I’ve probably caught more off a Bomber long A than anything, I like Lucky Craft pointers really well. Don’t own a single mega bass bait. But I don’t fish jerkbaits much, I prefer other methods usually. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 4, 2024 Super User Posted August 4, 2024 No Megabass here. Smithwick, Lucky Craft, Rapala, Strike King, Spro, and even a few BPS are what I use. 3 Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I know MBs are expensive, but theyre worth it, especially when its cold and the bite is tough. Having said that, Duo makes outstanding JBs especially for the price point. IMO they have the best stock hooks of any bait JB I've ever used and while they colors arent as broad and refined as MB they make plenty of good ones. Aside from the Sp85 the Duo action is more aggressive heavier and louder than the sharp finesse action of the Vision 110/Jr. Quote

The Strike King KVD Elite 300 Jerkbait offers more color options and upgraded hardware. (still addicted to Megabass bait however.) A-Jay Having seen the success you have with these, I picked up a handful of them last year at a good price. For the life of me I cannot get them to cast consistently well, half the time it seems the weight transfer won't engage and it's like casting a potato chip. I'll keep at it, maybe I got some duds, not sure if this reflects your experience with them versus how easily some others cast. Quote

If the weight transfer system doesn't flow easily from front to back in your hand, it's probably not working properly on the cast either. Not sure what to tell you other than perhaps contact Strike King directly and ask for replacement. Just so you know, I've not ever done that so I'm not sure if that's even a thing. Good Luck and sorry your baits are jacked up. A-Jay 1 Quote
WackyWormNedRig Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 I love mega bass but I’ll throw a Berk stunna once in a while too Quote
RevoSEMIpro Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Dipped a toe in the Vision waters and for the money was underwhelmed... Rerange is my #1 but at $17 still hurts when the line goes slack after a hit, lol. For $6 (sales) - $9 I have not found a lot to complain about with YoZuri 3DBs. My "intro" to jerk baits was with Rapala X-raps and while I didn't find them to be the best thing going for bass I do believe a Hot Steel colored XR10 has accounted for at least 1000 lbs of pike in the boat, lol. Super User MassYak85 Posted August 6, 2024 Super User Posted August 6, 2024 The others I have confidence are Lucky Craft Pointers and Jackal Rerange. Quote
KP Duty Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Winter or 40's water...you want a smithwick rogue- they roll and don't 'walk' underwater. Great for lethargic bass. X-rap 'slashbait' as rapala called it, walks underwater like a spook and work well in a couple of situations. Duel flat minnow won the classic, and are on sale @ TW. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Duel_Hardcore_Minnow_Flat_SP_Jerkbaits_110mm/descpage-HMF.html 1 Quote
zell_pop1 Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 LC Silent Pointer 98 catches em for me. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 13, 2024 Global Moderator Posted August 13, 2024 Stunna, 6th Sense, Strike King 300, Head Hunter, and Duo all do a lot of work for me when I need a jerkbait. Quote
BlakeMolone Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 KVD 200 has super erratic action, pointer 78 and 95 , h2o ultimate jerkshad, husky jerks, and the headhunter vision 120 knockoffs Quote
RB 77 Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 There are other Jerkbaits besides Megabass? I kid, I kid. For the longest time my go-to was the LC Pointer. Good old Ghost Minnow is a fav of mime. I love the LC Flash Minnows for salty applications. Quote

Mostly the shallow & deep standard JB. I do have a handful shad's that I've weighted to super slow sink that have given me a few great days. 1 Quote
txchaser Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 I'll add one I didn't see mentioned - Shimano's world boost. It's not inexpensive but there's nothing quite like it. Quote
