Jerkbaits other than megabass

I’ve probably caught more off a Bomber long A than anything, I like Lucky Craft pointers really well. Don’t own a single mega bass bait. 

But I don’t fish jerkbaits much, I prefer other methods usually.

No Megabass here.  Smithwick, Lucky Craft, Rapala, Strike King, Spro, and even a few BPS are what I use.

I know MBs are expensive, but theyre worth it, especially when its cold and the bite is tough.  Having said that, Duo makes outstanding JBs especially for the price point.  IMO they have the best stock hooks of any bait JB I've ever used and while they colors arent as broad and refined as MB they make plenty of good ones.  Aside from the Sp85 the Duo action is more aggressive heavier and louder than the sharp finesse action of the Vision 110/Jr.

Having seen the success you have with these, I picked up a handful of them last year at a good price. For the life of me I cannot get them to cast consistently well, half the time it seems the weight transfer won't engage and it's like casting a potato chip. I'll keep at it, maybe I got some duds, not sure if this reflects your experience with them versus how easily some others cast.

It's not.

If the weight transfer system doesn't flow easily from front to back in your hand,

it's probably not working properly on the cast either.

Not sure what to tell you other than perhaps contact Strike King directly and ask for replacement.

Just so you know, I've not ever done that so I'm not sure if that's even a thing.

Dipped a toe in the Vision waters and for the money was underwhelmed...

 

Rerange is my #1 but at $17 still hurts when the line goes slack after a hit, lol.

 

For $6 (sales) - $9 I have not found a lot to complain about with YoZuri 3DBs.

 

My "intro" to jerk baits was with Rapala X-raps and while I didn't find them to be the best thing going for bass I do believe a Hot Steel colored XR10 has accounted for at least 1000 lbs of pike in the boat, lol.

The others I have confidence are Lucky Craft Pointers and Jackal Rerange.

Winter or 40's water...you want a smithwick rogue- they roll and don't 'walk' underwater.  Great for lethargic bass.  X-rap 'slashbait' as rapala called it, walks underwater like a spook and work well in a couple of situations.  Duel flat minnow won the classic, and are on sale @ TW.

Stunna, 6th Sense, Strike King 300, Head Hunter, and Duo all do a lot of work for me when I need a jerkbait.

There are other Jerkbaits besides Megabass? I kid, I kid. For the longest time my go-to was the LC Pointer. Good old Ghost Minnow is a fav of mime. I love the LC Flash Minnows for salty applications.

Mostly the shallow & deep standard JB. I do have a handful shad's that I've weighted to super slow sink that have given me a few great days.

I'll add one I didn't see mentioned - Shimano's world boost. It's not inexpensive but there's nothing quite like it.
