padlin Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 As a takeoff on the “how many rods, and what’s on them” thread, I’d be interested in knowing how many some of you own. I think I have 12, 4 of which are saltwater, oh ya, and 3 fly, so 15 total. And my wife busts my chops when I buy another. I get the feeling she figures 1 is all I should need. Quote
Fishingmickey Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 I plead the 5th, 6th and 7th. Including saltwater over 60. The bait monkey has me on speed dial. FM 7 9 Quote
WackyWormNedRig Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 I own 6. Had more, a lot broke and sold some to upgrade to better gear. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 @Fishingmickey I'm with this guy ! While I rehomed much of my saltwater gear after the move up here to sweet water. I kept many rigs for nostalgic reason. As for bass gear, isn't there some type of unwritten rule that a man should never actually count them. If there ain't, there sure otta be . . Big picture, I've decided to switch out every split grip stick I have in favor of full cork, my true favorite. I am about 35% into it and it's going well. Some bassheads are going to get several smoking deals on quality rods this coming hard water season. The obsession never stops. 😎 A-Jay 5 Quote
Super User Bird Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 16 on the boat, 6 usually on deck while fishing and only 1 required to trip over. 2 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 13 casting rigs, 3 spinning bass rigs, 4 spinning panfish rigs - so 20 total. If I'm out on Bass Trek, I usually start the day with 6 rigged up and on the deck...adding as the day progresses. Shore fishing it's 3-4 with me. 2 minutes ago, A-Jay said: Some bassheads are going to get several smoking deals on quality rods this coming hard water season. Super User T-Billy Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 I honestly don't know. 70 ish rods. 50 ish reels. Another new muskie rod will be here tomorrow. 10 Quote

Super User J._Bricker Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 On the advice of my lawyer and after lengthy consultations with the bait monkey, who’s counsel was I can only fish one rod at a time, I am going to plead the fifth. 5 4 Quote

Super User Columbia Craw Posted August 2, 2024 Super User Posted August 2, 2024 No sir, I ain’t gonna do it. Some things are better left alone. 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted August 2, 2024 Super User Posted August 2, 2024 10 dedicated bass setups, 3 walleye setups, and 2 muskie combos. Total of 15. I am at the point where I only buy rods or reels when one breaks now. 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted August 2, 2024 Super User Posted August 2, 2024 I had to count them just now: 30. Even 10 years ago, I would have been incredulous if you told me I'd ever own that many rods at once. I do need to get rid of a few older, lower-end rods I never use anymore. Probably just garage sale them. As far as bass gear goes, I have no plans to get anything new at this point until something breaks. But I'm brooding over whether to get something specific for steelhead -- now that's another bottomless rabbit-hole all its own.... 1 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted August 2, 2024 Super User Posted August 2, 2024 More than I need yet still not enough. I haven't even dabbled in BFS yet. Planned on it this year but may have to wait until spring. 2 Quote
Backroad Angler Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 9 Baitcasting set ups, 5 spinning set ups and 1 fly fishing set up. Working on cutting down though. Quote
papajoe222 Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 This is an easy one. Only counting bassin' combos, 15. I also own another 16 rods that get limited use, so I just swap out reels when I do use them. Please don't ask about crankbaits and if you get around to soft plastics, I'd have to answer in pounds, not packages. 2 1 Quote
