Super User Mobasser Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 I'd been fishing a plastic worm in bright sun, and had caught two keeper size bass from a large cove, in about thirty minutes time. Some clouds came over, and the surface remained calm. I reached for my casting rod, and tied on my Zara Spook. I cast, and began walking my spook across the cove. The first cast brought nothing, but on my next cast, when I lifted my bait from the water, there was a 4" bass hooked on one of the back trebles. I never knew he was there. He'd gone for a wild ride, getting jerked back and forth across the cove. I carefully released him, and he bolted off, acting like nothing had happened. I've also hooked a couple of less than 6" bass fishing large 10" plastic worms. Sometimes, I'm amazed by these dinks. They'll try to eat something that's bigger than they are. I hope they grow up, and become big bass, and have the same voracious appetites. I'm sure others have had similar things happen. The dinks are out there. Tell me about the smallest dink you've ever caught on a big bass lure. 2 1 Quote

Super User casts_by_fly Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 Yup. Grabbed the front treble like it was going to t-bone that baitfish. Hooked right in the corner of the mouth and took the whole bait down for a brief 2 seconds. 5 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 It takes real skill to catch one of these juniors. You may not know they are attached to your bait, trouble hooking them, hard to find, etc. Catching one of these gemstones is the mark of a true professional 1 2 Quote
Bazoo Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 A lot of times I'll catch them on crankbaits, sometimes topwater. Cute little guys. The other day I was fishing a pond and I kept getting nipped right at shore on my worm, so I put on a smaller worm and pulled out a dink. Gotta meet the Boss sometime. 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 My avatar pic is a dink of a dink. That’s an old pic from years ago. I was fishing a recirc discharge pipe into the river down by the railroad tracks. Generally is a good smallie spot. I got into a whole bunch of small largemouth right in that spot. I believe the pic has a Bandit 200 in Butterbean but it could be a Bomber 6a in white. Was a crazy morning that morning. Must of caught 10-12 that size. My avatar pic is a dink of a dink. Super User Bankc Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 My avatar is probably the smallest bass I've ever caught. Definitely a lot bigger than what everyone else is posting. Caught him with a jigging spoon about half his size casting towards a bait ball. The one time I have the biggest fish in the contest... ugh. 1 Quote

Bazoo Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Not as small as yalls, but I thought this one was humorous. The look on the fishes face with the worm wrapped around his head. 1 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted August 1, 2024 Super User Posted August 1, 2024 Take a stroll over to the latest pics thread and you’ll see no shortage of dinks there. Mine go back as quick as humanly possible. 2 Quote

Super User GreenPig Posted August 2, 2024 Super User Posted August 2, 2024 Caught a measured 2.25" LM on a Roostertail. Long before my phone had a camera so no pic. 2 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 2, 2024 Super User Posted August 2, 2024 The worst part is trying to get the hook out of their mouths without hurting them. I carry a pair of forceps with me now since the pliers are too big to use. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted August 2, 2024 Super User Posted August 2, 2024 I think it was @WRBthat pointed out to me that bass don't own mirrors and limited reasoning capacity... most likely don't have any concept of how small they are when they decide they are hungry Scrolled past this thread a few times and each time I only glimpse it scrolling by, I think it's about me and decided not to acknowledge 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 2, 2024 Global Moderator Posted August 2, 2024 Hoping for a striper on a glide, thought I snagged a leaf. Fishing for flathead bait with a 1/80oz jighead and a piece of a 2" grub. 4 Quote
