LonnieP Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 Usually take 4 crankbait rods 1 jig rod rod 1 Texas rig rod 1 for top water or jerkbaits 1 for Frogs 1 for spinnerbaits and once a year or so I’ll carry a spinning rod Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted July 31, 2024 Super User Posted July 31, 2024 I usually have six setups fishing from a boat. Four baitcaster and two spinning rods. I try to only have three on deck at a time. 1 for crankbaits. 1 for either a spinnerbait or a topwater. 1 for soft plastics. 1 for either a different soft plastic or a jig. 1 spinning rod with either a Senko or T rig Trick worm. 1 spinning rod with with smaller finesse soft plastic. r83srock Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 From a Kayak 2, one MH baitcaster one spinning. Bank fishing two max. Usually a couple MH baitcasters. wading I take one, often a spinning rod. In the boat I should only take 5. I could cover the spectrum. Right now I have 12 and need to do some culling. I never fish better with more setups to choose from. Fishing as a backseater, it depends. Fun fishing I’ll take 3, tournament fishing I’ll take 5. Quote

Str8BraidPowa Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 I am bringing all the rods, but the first three I get out most everywhere I go. (Chick river, Pamonkey River, Lake Anna) I adapt from there, I will switch to a T-rig on any of these three depending on how big I want to go. 7'2" Zodias ML - Under-spin with 2.8-3.3 swimbait 6'10" Expride MH- 3/8 oz. Mini max chatterbait or 3/8" compact jig 7'2" Expride H- 1/2" Jig Quote
Hulkster Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 for most fishing adventures I bring my three main rods: 1 light spinning, one MH baitcasting and one UL rod (just for fun) They are as follows: G. Loomis IMX Pro SJR 901S with Nasci 1000 FC reel G. Loomis IMX Pro MBR 903C with Curado 200i PG G. Loomis Trout Series UL TSR791 with Sustain 1000 FE Quote
chubaka Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 I live in Iowa and I typically only bring 2 to 3 and 4 being max. 1st setup is chatterbait setup. 2nd would be texas rig. 3rd would typically depend on the season. Spring would be a crank/lipless/jerkbait setup. Summer and early fall would be a frog or topwater rod. 4th would be a spinning setup with wacky senko. Quote
HawkeyeSmallie Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 I need to show my wife this thread. She thinks I'm crazy for taking 4 rods fishing. She also thinks I have way too many setups. Quote
