Super User Spankey Posted July 23, 2024 Super User Posted July 23, 2024 Remember those ads from the 60’s and early 70’s. Never had to mail order anything like that. The stuff was probably ok to fish with back then. Growing up I was lucky enough to have a couple of hardware stores my dad and grandfather would be in and they had fishing and hunting supplies there. Real cool and a nice find you have there. 1 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted July 23, 2024 Super User Posted July 23, 2024 I’m almost 64. And to this day I distinctly remember “Star drag! Found only on best reels!” 1 Quote

Super User scaleface Posted July 28, 2024 Super User Posted July 28, 2024 I bought one of those without the rod and reels. Got a box of lures. Mostly stamped out spoons. I remember a purple spinnerbait. 1 Quote
padlin Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 You can buy the reels off eBay, something like $20 each, you could make a killing if you still have them. Although if you had sunk the $13 in the stock market in 1965 you’d have $13000, so maybe the reels weren’t a great investment. 1 Quote
