If money wasn't a factor then there's no such term as 'blowing the bank'.  I'm not sure how much I would spend in the end, but you can bet I'd try everything given an unlimited pool of funds. Except those round reels.  You couldn't pay me to fish a calcutta or an Ambasssadeur.

Probably still use what I use honestly.

 

I'm hard on my gear.  Real real hard.  No sense in putting lipstick (ultra fancy rods and reels) on a pig (me stomping around in the dark at public ponds and bumbling around our local lakes on aluminum Jon boats)

A bajillion?  If money's not a factor, then money doesn't matter.

 

Though, I probably wouldn't buy a $1,000 Megabass rod, even I was the richest man in the world.  Not because of the price or on principle or anything, because if you're worth a billion dollars, $1,000 is nothing.  But more likely because I'd have to special order it, and I'm not convinced that I'd catch any more fish with a rod that expensive.  So I'd probably just walk into BPS and buy the best rod they had in stock that was also in a color that matched my hand sewn, Corinthian leather boat shoes.   Or more realistically, I probably wouldn't be bass fishing at all.  I'd probably be doing some saltwater fishing from my yacht off the coast of Lanai while shooting fireworks at Larry Ellison's mansion because why not?  Then I'd try to remember the name of that super model on the bow and wonder if I should take her to this great little Thai restaurant I own in Bangkok, or have cucumber sandwiches and Tom Cruise flown in to do a live action remake of Terminator 2, while I laugh on the inside, because he doesn't know that I know he wasn't in that movie.

You get what you pay for with rod combos--with anything, really. I've spent up to 3k on some of my surf setups, which was necessary in order to fish the way I needed to fish. Sometimes, even, buying high end items like reels can actually SAVE money because, in the long run, it'll still be there, outlasting all those regular reels that would've been necessary to keep up with it. Case in point: I used to go through regular moderately priced saltwater reels like water until I bit the bullet and started buying Shimano Stellas or Daiwa Saltigas. With basic care, those reels will last a lifetime, only one purchase necessary. They remain silky smooth and have some of the most powerful drags in the world to stop even the biggest pelagic fish. A well matched high end combo is worth the price, no matter if the sky is the limit or not. It's like having all the right tools when working on a car or something. The right tools of the highest quality can do the job so much better and so much faster, actually saving a lot of time and a ton of aggravation. On the front end, high priced items like rod combos can appear off limits because of their initial high cost but they shine so brightly on the back end, making the experience so much more enjoyable and everlasting. But if money is no objective, it really doesn't matter anyway, because sometimes having money or not, some people (like me) will still spend it on combos as if there was no limit to it.

You know that’s honestly the answer I would go with. I wouldn’t by anything off the shelf. I would get it all tailored to my hands and style

Money is not an issue for me but I still wouldn't spend $1,100 on a rod...period!

I don't think it would change what I buy too much. I like what I like.

 

But I would have a small barge next to me with a captain and a deckhand and with the barge carrying 700 rod and bait combos and I'd call out what I needed next. It beats tying baits all day and losing precious fishing time.

Maybe.  But I sure would wear out his face muscles while I tried everything out.  Maybe I end up where I am now and maybe I don't. But I'm going to try it all.  that's for sure.

I'd continue to use what I've got.   Money wasn't a factor when I bought any of it.

One of my all time favorites. They also had one with a black and blue flake body and a blue tail. Both colors are killer. 

 

The closest I have found is this guy from Geecrack.  They are not round like the Ika but oval.

If you had the money, you could have rods to abuse and nice gear for the boat.  It's the same with clothing...I don't do yard work wearing my Sunday's best.
