Hook upgrade for Fat Free Shad

Just had a 5-6 lb largemouth spit out my new Fat Free Shad crankbait. I was hooked up well and keeping him low coming to the boat. One small jump and he tossed it. Killed me to lose it. Just a fluke thing, or does anyone upgrade the treble hooks on these?  Full disclosure... I hardly ever fish crankbaits, so I don't know if they tend to get spit out.

I don’t care what bait you throw, at some point a bass is going to throw it.  I’d give it a try for a while and if it continues, change them out.  Or…..if it will increase your confidence, it’s a cheap way to keep it to just change them out.

Right on, Toxic. I've been a pretty die hard jig fisherman for a lot of years. I make my own and hardly ever miss a set. Just figured with 6 hooks, this thing should never lose a fish. Lol

Few products have wow'd me as much as when you change stock hooks to those, and then see the remarkable difference it makes in hook up and landing percentages.

A Fat Free Shad is one of my favorite cranks and I've only changed out the hooks when they became dull. I'm a big fan of TrippleGrip trebles for replacements.

Many anglers struggle with hook-sets and keeping fish hooked when first getting into crankbait fishing. Adjusting your hook-set to more of a sweep set to the side and up and using a rod with a Moderate action will help reduce the number of fish that come unbuttoned.

As mentioned, though, you will loose fish. I've had bass choke a crank and somehow come unbuttoned.
