Ratherbefishing75 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 So I’m sure there is a chat about this here just can’t find it lol. So I’m looking to all what the best app is for lake and river navigation / depth /tide /lake danger avoidance Out there cheep or free that I can download on my phone so I can use it along with my depth /fish finder as I’m not ready to spend big money on a new one for my boat yet Quote

Super User Bankc Posted July 17, 2024 Super User Posted July 17, 2024 I haven't ever used an app for that, so I can't recommend anything specifically. I will say, however, that I doubt there's much money to be had in making an app like that, since most sonar units either come with maps, or have maps as an option. And making those maps is very expensive and time consuming. So my guess is the best app would come from the same people who make the maps for the sonar units. And I doubt they spend too much money developing the app, since that's not where the money is for them. And I'm betting most of the other apps all use whatever government surveys they have access to for free, which means they're probably all about the same. But mostly, the best app is probably whichever one has the best map for the lakes you fish, just like with the big sonar units. One company might have a better detailed map of one lake, and another company might be the only one that offers a map of a second lake. Quote
GRiver Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 @Ratherbefishing75 I went to the App Store on my I phone, marine navigation I believe and there was a few. They’re a few on there, some free. Might check under marine plotters too. Don’t know how accurate they are. Quote
Ratherbefishing75 Posted July 30, 2024 Author Posted July 30, 2024 I have looked into some apps and found 1 that I’m trying out right now Omnia fishing so far it’s ok but still not impressed with it. There’s one other one that states it’s free but to unlock the features that you really want and you have to sign up for service on it but I guess that what you have to do to get what your looking for lol Quote
