OmegaDPW Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 The only hobby that I have more important than fishing is knife/tool collecting. Started with my Dad giving me a Victorinox Swiss Army knife as a kid and just escalated from there. Probably 200+ pocketknives, fixed blades and multi-tools now. What are you carrying? My "everyday" is probably a Schrade Old Timer Sharpfinger. I use a knife quite a bit for work and many pocket folders just can't handle some of the abuse I give it, so I carry a fixed blade. It works fine and I now carry it away from work. It's small and looks like something a "Grandpa" would have. Granted, I live down South with a bunch of farmers and hunters, so no one has ever given it a second look, regardless. When I carry a Leatherman Wave w/ bit set in a pocket, along with the Old Timer, I can handle just about any emergency that comes up- even cutting an apple... Just curious what others carry (if you do). 3 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 My every day carry is a Leatherman Super Tool 300. In my watch pocket there’s usually a folding trapper. Feel naked without them, flashlight too. 1 Quote
volzfan59 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 I don't know the model or model number but I carry the small Victorinox Swiss Army knife. It's the one with a blade, file, scissors, toothpick and tweezers. I don't like to carry much of anything in my pockets. I have an old school Leatherman multi-tool that I carry when I go fishing. I have a newer skeletonized Leatherman that my son bought for me. I'll carry it when/if the old one ever wears out. 2 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted July 12, 2024 Super User Posted July 12, 2024 Mine is a Case medium stockman. Three blades. I've had it for at least 25 years. I also have a Leatherman tool I carry for fishing. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted July 12, 2024 Super User Posted July 12, 2024 My EDC is a Leatherman PST that I've had for about 30 years now. 1 Quote

That would probably be the Classic, unless it's a rare version named something else. A "classic" it is. My favorite knives to collect. Here's some reading if you're inclined. padlin Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 2 Swiss Army Knives, the Classic on my keys, and a Tinker when I want something bigger, both red. Been carrying a Tinker for 30ish years cause it has a Philips. Flew a couple weeks ago and forget about the Classic, had to buy another when I got back. That’s the 2nd time I’ve had to sacrifice a knife. Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 12, 2024 Super User Posted July 12, 2024 @Mobasser & @OmegaDPW Model 1520T Sharpfinger that was my Dad's. 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 12, 2024 Super User Posted July 12, 2024 I always have a Swiss Army knife and an Uncle Henry’s Stockman unless in pjs or buck naked. Quote
Fishing_Rod Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Greetings All, Great question! Through the years my answer has has changed. It adapted to environment and equipment options available. Currently, I carry a Victorinox Explorer with an SOG Power Pint. The combination of both provide me great utility for professional and personal efforts. The tool overlap is not a significant issue for me as there are differences. Example: both have scissors. The size and capabilities of each are different. I will add, I did not initially appreciate the magnifying loop as much as I do now. Age, older eyes, and events have shown me how useful it is to have. In regards to fishing, that magnifying loop along with the straight pin have solved countless knot issues. My tool combination doesn't take up too much pocket space. Also with the SOG power pint I can make better use of the bit driver set. That I keep somewhat handy when needed but generally not carried about. This combo was reasonably priced as neither is too expensive. Also easy to replace, so far after close to a decade of use, no issues with either. I've managed to make use of pretty much ever implement during that time. Yeah, including the interesting parcel hook. That has come in handy too! Wishing each of you well in all your adventures. Cheers! 1 Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted July 12, 2024 Super User Posted July 12, 2024 I keep Gerber 600’s or Centerdrive multitools in my cars & boat. They’re still made in USA. Gerber offers military & 1st responder discounts. 1 Quote
fin Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 I rarely carry a knife, but when I do, it’s this Beretta, because it is super lightweight. I think it’s one of the largest pocket knives I have at five inches, and almost as light as some of the smaller ones at 2.9 oz. I’ve got about 10 more pocket knives I’ve found over the years around the lake, also a bunch of folding utility knives. Of those, the Milwaukee is by far the best. My most recent find was a switchblade. That thing must be made of lead. It’s 7.9 oz. I don’t know how someone could have dropped that much weight and not noticed it. Maybe it was intentional lol. I carry nail clippers on an elastic string clipped to my pocket for mono and I keep Cuda scissors in my backpack for braid. I also keep an x-acto blade in my tackle. 3 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 I can’t say I ever have a knife on me. When I did I had a spyder delica 2 Quote
fishhugger Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Opinel carbon steel #6. Very easy to carry and easy to keep very sharp, and easy to sharpen. Unlike the stainless versions. 2 Quote

I like both. The stainless is better for pocket carry at work for me, but the #6 might change my mind. The 12 is a great camping knife when you don't want to carry around a large fixed blade all day. 1 Quote
volzfan59 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 @OmegaDPW, You are correct, it is a "Classic". I see that I can get one in orange. Better believe that I'll have a new one before Tennessee Volunteer football season!!! I checked, the Leatherman that I carry when fishing in a "PST". Like @MN Fisher, I've had it forever. 3 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted July 12, 2024 Super User Posted July 12, 2024 I think multi-tools are kinda cumbersome while out fishing, On my boat I’ve found a Spyderco Delica, 11” hemostats, fingernail clippers, and my go to backlash pick (pictured below) will potentially be used at one point or another. 1 Quote

Locking meaning you can slide the rotating ring to Lock the blade open when in use ... Or closed, such as when it's in your pocket. A necessary feature... To me. 1 Quote
