5by3 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Anyone throw the magdraft with success during the summer months? I throw it a lot until the water temps hit around 60 but my luck seems to go down after that. 1 Quote
softwateronly Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 I've had a tough year so far for swimbait fish. Missed fishing ice out to prespawn because of work so being down is somewhat expected, but usually I can get a window in late May // early June when the big soft plastics are the ticket. Never ended up playing out that way this year. I have done well with larger jighead minnow rigs; 6.5" raid fish roller and 7" Jerky J being the best, and that's continued thru this week. Maybe it's because I'm learning it and throwing it more often or because it's different then what they've been seeing, but I'm gonna stick with this till it stops working. scott Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 12, 2024 Super User Posted July 12, 2024 I caught two on the 6in Silver Shad a couple of days ago at my local pond. It was a struggle to get the fish to commit to it. I had a lot follow it but not bite. The two I caught crushed it though, which was fun. This pond is full of bass. If I was fishing something else, I would have caught several fish. Quote
Fried Lemons Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 Yes they work all summer long. I have more luck fishing that style of bait in shallow cover than I do fishing deep structure this time of year. I caught these fish and many more mostly in July-August. Quote
