snowplow Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Hey guys, I always hear everybody say they would n't pay full price for a GLX because they can be had on sale pretty easily. I need a good deal on a GLX! Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 I wish you would have said this a month or so ago. American Legacy was clearing out all the old model GLX to make room for the new models. I think they sold them all out though, but you might check. Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted July 9, 2024 Super User Posted July 9, 2024 Tw is 15% off everything right now. 1 Quote
rangerjockey Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Call Brian at American legacy and ask him what he can do. never hurts to ask. 1 Quote
KP Duty Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 You want the '24 model. I held them at the classic expo and Loomis really perked them up. They float in your hand for sure. I call ALF as suggested, but labor day will be the next sale everywhere. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted July 10, 2024 Super User Posted July 10, 2024 Yea I grabbed two in late February from ALFC, but I’ll tell you that even used the GLX is getting 300$ or so.. But good luck, they are great rods imo. Quote
snowplow Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 Okay, thanks for the good advice guys. ç One more question for those of you that are familiar with these rods. I have a 6'6" GCX SJR. It's classified as a MH/F from 3/16-5/8 oz If I got that same rod in the GLX it's all the same but bumps to 7' and 3/16-3/4 oz. In theory they should be the same action. How do you expect the GLX to feel differently? Quote

Except they want nearly full price on everything I saw. For instance,... 8/10 Shimano Zodias was $199. I can buy the new for $ 199-209 1 Quote

How do you expect the GLX to feel differently? The 7' rod of the same power will be a little more powerful than a 6'6" due to the extra length being at the butt end of the rod. The upper section of the blank should be the same. The glx will be lighter, more crisp, and noticeably more sensitive vs a gcx. Quote

So a $500 2024 GLX which the op was looking for, you save $100. 1 Quote
