Stan_The_Bass Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Hey everyone, My name is Stan and I am originally from the great state of Maine. I am 35 years old and have been Bass Fishing for about 10 years now. I caught the bug while I was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington where I caught a monster bass for up there (7.5 pounder). I have hopped around to many different Army bases since then and bass fished wherever I have been stationed. So far I have fished Washington state, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, and now Texas. I am a novice Bass Angler but I am very particular about my baits and I like to really get into all the different nuances of bass fishing including map research, fish finder usage, Bass behavior and other intricacies of our great sport. I have been happily married for ten years to my beautiful wife and we have two children (1 and 3 years old). My current fishing setup is that I have a 2015 triton 18TX aluminum bass boat and a 8 foot bass raider. Recently I haven't been able to take out the bass boat due to the lakes being closed from flooding and having two children and a wife. I have been taking out the bass raider early in the mornings or late at night to get my bass fishing in and I am beginning to like fishing ponds with the raider and don't really get the urge to take out the bass boat to be honest. anyways, its really nice to meet you all and I plan to be an active member of the forum as I recently quit playing video games to be a better role model for my young boys and I find myself needing an outlet to communicate with like minded people. 4 Quote

In order to reopen it has to be at or below full pool for two weeks, the once it remains at normal pool for two weeks the company engineers go out and inspect it and if it passes inspection they reopen. 2 Quote

Haven’t been on it for a bit but I was using the park at the bridge to launch my kayak while ramps still closed. Had a buddy help carry ours twice. The other time I dragged it through the woods myself. Ain’t done much good since it flooded, but I am no expert. Some people catch em really good on that lake. Last year was great with the low water and thick hydrilla. We cannot complain. Needed rain sooner or later. If you see a grey Hobie Outback cruising around out there, come and say hello. Quote

The Baron Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 What a great introduction! Welcome, from Ontario Canada. All our lakes up here are natural, so the idea of a closed lake is new to me. But a lake that’s been closed for a while could offer some excellent fishing with you can get out there again. 1 Quote

I had the same thought. I'd drag your little boat through the woods to launch right now and have the lake to yourself. #Idragmylittleboatthroughmanywoodstohavelakestomyself Quote

steve carpenter Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Welcome. I live in Bell County close to the Fort. Think the high water will kill much of the hydrilla and it will take some time to grow back. The fishing at the lake is very different without it. Have seen the lake flood 2 or 3 times. Quote
