It’s my favorite version of any patriotic song Oh I kinda remember a policy about politics.. I honestly didn’t mean to break the rule it’s just good ol 🇺🇸 baby! 1 Quote

Eric 26 Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 That’s a cool cover but when Layne Staley sang it you could practically hear him battling his demons as he sang. 1 Quote

BigAngus752 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 I think it's rare that a cover turns out better than the original. The two I can think of off the top of my head were both Michael Jackson songs. Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm Billie Jean - Tyler Rich Runners up: Hurricane - Band of Heathens Black Betty - Spiderbait House of the Rising Sun - Five Finger Death Punch Can't You See - Black Stone Cherry Quote
Super User slonezp Posted September 24, 2024 Super User Posted September 24, 2024 If it wasn't already mentioned, Metallica's version of Am I Evil put the song on the airways. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 24, 2024 Super User Posted September 24, 2024 I was waiting to see "Black Betty" on this. I always thought it was originally recorded by Lead Belly. Turns out it was James Iron Head Baker. The very original version was a work song passed on by slaves working in the fields. I like all versions of it, but Lead Belly's is my favorite. Quote
Functional Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Dont know if its been mentioned but Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence was really good if you like a harder rock sound. (guess its considered heavy metal but whatever). 1 Quote

Also while I’m mentioning Bobaflex they do a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Hey You” that is also really well done. Lastly I’m not sure if you have heard the live version of “Sound of Silence” by Disturbed with Myles Kennedy but it definitely sounds good with them 2 harmonizing together and well worth the visit to you tube to watch imho. I like Bobaflex actually so I'll have to find that one! Yes I did hear the live version, it was actually the first time I heard him cover it and liked it immediately. The live vs recorded definitely have a different sound but still both good. Since we're on the topic of rock.... fun fact, my wedding song was My Darkest Days - Without You. My wife thought I was nuts until she listened to the song lol. DJ said he was keeping it in his wedding rotation after our wedding. 1 Quote

Eric 26 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Another really good hard rock cover is Korn covering Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall”. Sorry if it’s already been mentioned. 1 Quote
