The ends of this worm are unique with turn downs.

Question: Do you rig with turn downs pointing down or up? Or does it matter?

The ends are symmetrically opposite..So one end will always be up and one down.

Does it matter which way the fat end goes? I presume no..but have not used this particular worm before and appreciate any insight even if that includes "don't over think this". LOL 😆

Whichever way you rig it you’ll still get that nice shimmy action.  Ive honestly never paid that close attention when rigging them.  Love the flick shake in clear water

The right Flik Shake weighted jig head is important - TW should have a selection in that useful approx. 1/16th oz. range .

Fished it today.

VERY disappointed with how much it hangs up on the weeds...despite weedguard.

Total failure today. Did not produce a single bite.

Who suggested to use a Fkick Shaky wacky rig in weeds? The Flick Shake worm is designed to be in open water to free movements.

I use the 4.8 watermelon candy with good results as a wacky hooked drop shot rig in deep rocky structure lakes.

Several videos and discussions, actually. In pockets near vegetation.

Presumably why many tackle manufacturers make weedless flick shake heads too.

But to your question, I'm not throwing IN the weeds, there just happens to be vegetation interspersed in the areas I fish.

That would not be the hook I would use. I would probably throw that around some heavy cover with a senko. Also,  the senko would be a better choice around weeds and cover.

The Flick Shake works better around light cover and rocks. It's also a good choice for fishing deeper water with some patience.

Below on the left are wacky hooks that I would not use on the Flick Shake. They are larger and have heavy wire. On the right would be the style I would choose.  The one with the arrow pointed to it is from Zappu and works perfectly with the Flick Shake.

I agree, but thats all that was immediately available until my Zappus come in. But the hook is certainly not to blame for zero bites IMO.

But I think the Zappus will suffer the same problem...getting wrapped in the occasional vegetation cover one might run into.

Curiously, when fishing the same area with a Jika Rig, it comes through with zero weeds. I might have to try a Jika with a Hayabusa Spin Muscle hook.

Owner size 1 Wacky Weedless Jungle hook #4109 on a 1/8 oz drop shot rig works.

Wacky jig  heads tend to gather weeds on the line to jig eye tie.

Just trying to help you out!

Understood.

But does the drop shot stymie the action though? I don't really want to fish a drop shot.

I thought the point of the jig head was for the bait to chase it to the bottom and wobble very naturally?

And thanks for the hook recommendation but I already have a fantastic wacky/drop shot hook I love (Hayabusa Spin Muscle)

The 4.8 size flick shaky worm is the only size I use because they work where I fish on 3/32 Jackall wacky jig and 1/8 oz drop shot.
I prefer the Owner hooks smaller dia forged ZO wire penetrates with less hook setting force.

Most of the lakes I fish are clear to very clear with steep rocky banks with sparse timber....... nothing beats the flickShake.

I also throw them on the edges of grass and cattails.

Also only rig them 1 way and only 2 different colors.

1/16 VMC weedless wacky with .003-.004 VMC crossover rings.

Green pumpkin candy and cola 4.8.

Never worried about how the worm was oriented, it still does the jiggy. PXL_20240705_221109674.jpg.83f3309d6fca364d5bfa5245ef99228d.jpgPXL_20240705_221239487.jpg.ba5d0dfccf67acf6b7932951ab7fcadd.jpg

Go light around vegetation, try 1/32oz. I fish the flickshake all around central Florida (lotsa salad), it's one my goto's as a backseat tournament fisherman. I pick up a little bit of weeds or grass on occasion but not enough that it's a nuisance. My general approach is to put the lure at the edges of things, not in them.

About half of my bites happen the initial drop, or right after it hits bottom. If no bites after a few subtle shakes then I'll start "flicking" it high off the bottom, 2-3 lifts/drops then reel in. How are you retrieving it?

That's pretty much how I'm working...which, apart from minor differences, seems to be more or less the consensus of the videos I've watched.

Who makes a wacky head that light?

Otherwise, I really think I'll throw together a Jika (leaderless drop shot) with one of my wacky/drop shot hooks.

The Jika is one of my primary presentations and I actually think it might work great with the Flick Shake worm.

Owner ultrahead & Gamakatsu wacky head have 1/32. Plain 'ol ball head jigs work great too, no need for a technique specific wacky jig.

The first jighead I ever bought and used for flickshake (comes in 1/32) were these...

So all the rigging got me thinking about the Jika Rig. It doesn't take much as its one of my primary presentations.

I've never considered doing it wacky, but I think it will really work. One of the best attributes of the Jika is it drops straight down. And the Flick Shake comes alive on the drop. So the straight drop nature along with the free hook should allow great action.

Below are components. I use trout/fly fishing snaps as a quick change system without need to re-tie. Snap off hook or weight to suit. The 3" Egu Chunk with 2/0 Ryugi Infini and 7g (1/4oz) tungsten for my "power" finesse Jika. BTW, that Egu is a potent little thing! Vibrates my rod tip like a chatterbait on the lift!

So next is a Wacky Jika with a #1 Hayabusa Spin Muscle hook and a 2g (1/16) tungsten pencil. Pretty compact.

Next is a hand tied Jika with a 2g Cheb head.

Finally, while not a Jika, but interesting is the Decoy DS-15 in 2g. I screwed in, clipped excess, and put hook through spring. Might increase bait life too.
