Super User BrianMDTX Posted July 4, 2024 Super User Posted July 4, 2024 If push came to shove, if all I had were bags of #297 and #956 Senkos and Gamakatsu 1/0 circle octopus and 4/0 EWG hooks, I could fish and die happy. 1 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted July 4, 2024 Super User Posted July 4, 2024 I have the confidence to say that I could catch fish in a mud puddle with a Senko. And I would also say there’s not a lake anywhere from Canada to Mexico I couldn’t catch something with a Senko. Would it be the best lure? Maybe not, but my confidence level is very high. 😉 2 Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted July 4, 2024 Super User Posted July 4, 2024 I like a Senko wacky Rigged. A close second is Bass Pro stick worm. They catch fish and you can get em a bulk package pretty cheap Quote
RRocket Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Fished another worm technique today (Jackall Flick Shake). Worm action borders on extraordinary on the drop..WOW! However, it didn't produce a single bite in 2 hours of work. Tied on a Cover Scat before leaving...and a nice fish on 4th cast. I just can't account for why worms are such a fail train here.... Quote
Super User Koz Posted July 5, 2024 Super User Posted July 5, 2024 The two most productive baits of all time: 1. Senko 2. Whopper Plopper The two most overrated baits of all time: 1. Senko 2. Whopper Plopper Of course, that's a bit of hyperbole. On some lakes those baits are magic. On other lakes you can't buy a bite with those baits. 1 1 Quote
33oldtimer Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 I'm done with Yamamoto plastics. Bluegill bite the ends off of those baits and bass tear them up. No durability at all. I like the cheap Creme stick baits at Wally World when I use a bullet weight, and Yum Dingers and Shim-E-Sticks when I fish them weightless. This Spring I knocked the bass out on Stick Baits, but conditions getting tougher now I mainly use just 4" Stick Baits, Ribbon Worms, and Zoom Finesse Worms. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 5, 2024 Super User Posted July 5, 2024 I fish with the BPS Stik-o and Yum Dingers. These baits work around here when the bass want them. Quote
Alex Ball Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Ya. I think they pretty much work everywhere. I live on Bull Shoals. If I'm getting skunked, I throw the senko wacky, no more than 1/8 oz on a weighted wacky. They just catch fish. I've tried every other version, but the senko just works the best. Quote
Bazoo Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Real Senkos are not popular here in the circle of people I run into bank fishing. They are not popular with the small circle of fishing buddies I have either... I see others occasionally using YUM, and find them occasionally, but rarely ever find a real Senko... unless it's on the end of my line. And I have had some success with them in my local heavily pressured lake. I do have a lot of confidence in them. Quote
Happybeerbuzz Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Senko catch a lot of fish in all sizes. They are an awesome tool to catch numbers and fun fish. However, I can’t justify having a Senko tied on and on my deck with all the money I spent on other lures and their rod/reel combo specific setups. Just yesterday I placed an order with Siebert's for lures I am nearly clueless about and have no confidence in that I need to learn in the name of defying Senkos, Ned rigs, Dropshots, and FFS. Quote

You would not believe me if I told you how good they were these first years. What makes them so effective is that they move without you moving them. There is nothing better to imitate a living thing. Yeah they were like cheating late 90s/early 2ks. They would literally catch every bass in a pond. Sammies are junk ill give you a couple $ to take them off your hands... Quote
Susky River Rat Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 I never fish senkos I don’t whacky rig. I will T rig a curly rig. Every once and awhile I’ll use a shakey head presentation with a stick bait but not often. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted July 8, 2024 Super User Posted July 8, 2024 @GetFishorDieTryin: I love the Sammy. It is so easy to walk the dog with it so while I still haven’t caught anything with it yet, I’m not giving up. 😇😎 Quote
