Hey anglers, been fishing for 30 some odd years but 98% of that is inshore salt. Making a jump into freshwater; targeting mostly bass.

I have two spinning rigs I’m dedicating and need your help as I’m clueless when it comes to freshwater.

I have a 3000 currently on a Medium/Fast

I also have a 2000 currently on a Med Heavy/Fast

Would yall flip it and put the 3000 on the MH and the 2000 on the Med?

Do you use braid or mono line?

Depending on the reel mfr the difference between 2500 and 300 is line capacity only, a few the 3000 has slightly larger spool diameter. Larger diameter spool handles slightly larger line diameter. Line capacity is rarely a factor with bass fishing,

Are the rods freshwater or inshore salt water? Make and models both rods and reels is helpful,

Welcome to fresh water bass fishing!

It’s all about balance. Put one on each rod and see how it feels. Swap and try again. Most likely the heavier reel will feel better on the heavier rod, and vise versa.

Not much difference in a 2500 vs 3k.  The spool dia is larger in a 3k, but by a couple mm only.  The handle will generally be longer on a 3k which changes the feel on retrieve.  Weight is about the same given the reels are the same model.

Really balance, gear ratio and line will determine what rod they go on.  Given all things are the same balance is the most important aspect to me.
