This post is a result of my indecision that lead to stressful overthinking. When I ask the following question, consider these factors: I fish one of the shallow finger lakes with lots of vegetation mainly eurasian milfoil, the best places to flip are in the milfoil and under boat docks, the water is ultra clear in the morning and throughout the day progressively gets greener (a light stain caused by gloeotrichia rising from bottom), flipping baits that I’ve used and had moderate success with: D-Bomb, Baby D-Bomb, Pit Boss, Bronco Bug, Sweet Beaver. I like one that has little to no action and glides like a traditional beaver, as well as one that has some more action to it but has less action than a craw style bait.

The question: not including craws and tubes; if you could only choose 2 different beaver style baits each in 3 different colors to cover all the conditions listed above, what would you choose? And why?

I would use a x zone adrenaline bug ( green pumpkin or junebug. Or I use a Pit Boss in the same colors maybe to add watermelon orange. There are hundreds of different things people may prefer it all depends on what has worked for them.

D Bomb/Pit Boss/Rodent/Z Hog/Rage Bug/Palmetto Bugs/Beaver

I like em all - they all behave a little different and all of them are capable of catching a bass that likes that profile.

I tend to go for the D Bomb most of the time.  I like it for the reasons you stated: nice subtle gliding action - the tails seem really 'random' and lifelike.

Baby DB is fire, but I’ve had problems with the full size. Kinking has been an issue with the full size specifically, even when stored in a manner that would protect that.

Pit Boss for me. Color would be 'Perfection'. I like the boss because it's designed for ewg or strait shank hooks. I punch some heavy stuff with a minimum 2oz tungsten 5/0 strait shank or 6/0 ewg. I also use the big 5" boss with a 7/0 ewg. The boss baits seem to hold up much better than most other beaver style baits that I've used, espeically where I fish. Second choice would be Reaction Innovations.

Pit Boss fanboy here as well - Skeet's Chartreuse Shad for light color lures, Green Haze or Green Pumpkin for darker lures.

Avatar pic bass was caught on white/charteuse spinnerbait with a Skeet's pit boss trailer.

Rage bugs or as much as I hate to say anything googan the Bandito bug works very well. I also highly recommend try flukes. I use a white or shad, black and blue or some dark variation similar to it, and a green and red.

I’m a rage bug fan. It would fit the ‘slightly more’ action bait you’re looking for. Blue craw is my best but plain green pumpkin is just as good here (same water conditions you’re fishing).

I like a palmetto bug also but with considerations. It’s elaztech so obviously don’t mix with other plastics. Durability in use is great, but when it starts sliding up your hook or line after catching a couple it gets to be a pain to rethread it if you have a big bait keeper by the eye. For that, I stick to a more plain hook. It also fits your less action bait description.

Strike King Rodent or Big Big Baits Yomoma are the easy choices for me. Black and blue flake or Okeechobee craw in the Rodent, watermelon red/black neon laminate or sapphire blue in the BBB.

D Bomb no doubt about it for me.

1.  Bruiser Flash

2.  Super Bug

3. Toxic Grape

I've burned through about 12 packs the last couple of months.   Recently switched over to the D-Stroyer for a bigger profile for night fishing though.

Do Live Beaver and the X-Zone Adrenaline Bug have been my favorites. Another is the Geecrack Double Tail Spiron but it's getting harding to find in the colors I like.

Reaction Innovation Sweet Beaver. I’ve been using them for the last 15 years even though I hate how they only last after a couple fish. The plus side to them shredding like cheese is they make great jig trailers.

I started using the Berkley Maxscent Creature Hawg and I’m liking it so far. I don’t know if the scent stuff works but it does seem like the bass hold on a little bit longer.

Colors would be black/red(dirty) green pumpkin/chart(stained) sprayed grass(clear)

I started using D Bombs years ago before they were on shelves but now days I tropically use a Pit Boss. I’ve just had more success on Berkley soft baits than other brands

Case Plastics Sweet P is overall my favorite but no longer made.

Smallie Beaver is what's available: Green Pumpkin,  California 420, and orange/brown swirl (Not sure of the real name).

I'm most confident in D-Bombs, Sweet Beavers, and Bruiser's Intruder XGL for both jigs and pitching.  Super Bug, love bug, tramp stamp, big texan, taco truck, purple reign, and gp/junebug tips are my favorite colors.

I think we or maybe just me makes fishing a lot tougher than it is which justifies the need for all kinds of 1 bait. If I was limiting my beavers to two baits I would go with a Rage Bug Mid and 4 and Sweet Beavers/Smallie Beavers.  The Rage bug would provide more action while the Sweet Beaver/Smallie Beaver be a little more subtle.

Reaction Innovations smallie beaver and Riot Baits little fuzzy beaver is all I use and I jig fish the majority of the time.

black/blue fleck

money/tramp stamp

kush/sprayed grass

At this point, something with flappy ends like the rage bug, and something with not flappy ends like a d-bomb or a rodent. Rage bug and some others have that lip that gives more action.

watermelon(or GP) red flake, green pumpkin, black/blue. Probably default to the red flake because of the green tint.
