I’m using Power Pro #50 lb. braid in dark green as my frog fishing line gif bass . It’s not a bad braid - but there may be better braids introduced for froggin’ . What is your current favorite braid for fishing frogs for bass and what do you like best about the braid ?

Started with PP 50# then went to Sufix 832 in 50# - it's quieter through the guides, I get more distance and it seems to cut through the weeds better too.

I use the same as you.
Original 50# Power Pro and have for years.

I’m sure there are others that are better or just as good, but I really have no reason to change

I also use Power Pro in 50 and 65-  I like yellow.  It make it easier to locate the frog in slop.

Do you color the first several feet of yellow braid with a black / green Sharpee ?

I use 60 lb Chinese braid.  Noisy but I can't hear anyway and it's probably made by the same company that makes the high priced stuff.

832 for all bottom contact and heavy cover applications. Handles great and is the toughest most abrasion resistant braid I've found.

Original PP so outdated. 832 is a good line I've used for years. I've switched to Vicious No Fade Braid and find it to be superior to any other braid I've used since the 1990s.

Personally that why I use the Original Power Pro.

It doesn’t have any added coating and with it being a 4 strand nothing cuts through any better.
Admittedly an 8 stand is better for distance, nothing beats it for punching and frogging

Believe I’ve got 50/65# original PP in dark green on the heavy outfit, and 40# 832 on the small frog/open water outfit. Only play with the specialized stuff (YGK) on the finesse outfits.

Went from 832 50# to Berkley x5 50# and now I use Sunline FX2 50# for the last 2 years and haven’t looked back.

Power pro 4 strand has a coating unless they changed it.

Didn’t know that!

It’s been so long since I bought some I’ll be sure to check before I do.

Thanks

No, Where I fish, the slop ( grass) is green and yellow, so I don't see a problem and the bass don't seem to see any also.

Started years ago with the original Power Pro braid and still using it today.

I was given a spool of Vicious no fade 50# 2 years ago and have yet to try it, maybe I should.

I switched to Fins 40g going on a year now and it has been phenomenal. It is good for anything, smooth and great abrasion resistance.

Yes.  PP 50# is perfect.

With all the hype on here I bought 10 spools or so of 832 and find that it is the opposite of the promises.  It is louder, doesn't cast as far, handles way stiffer and has no benefit to the original PP.  All the hype actually made me question any advice on the forum.  There is nothing about 832 I like better than the original PP.  For throwing frogs it also seems to snag a lot more in the pads as well.  It is stiffer also making it a lot harder to get subtle action on light frogs.

So yes, there may be other better braids than PP, but 832 is not better for frogs and it isn't even close imo.  Would love to see another thin, quiet, supple line be offered up but every time I try something else I feel like it is wasted money.

Suffix 832. Knots less, nice and soft, very smooth.
