Schaefer Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 (edited) Hey guys I'm looking at buying a fish finder for the kayak. The 3 I'm looking at currently are on sale: Helix 8 CHIRP MSI+ GPS G4N - $990 CAD none sale prices is $1800 Hook Reveal 9 Tripleshot - $600 CAD none sale price is $1100 EchoMap UHD 93SV - $850 none sale price is $1600 Is the Helix almost $400 better than the Hook Reveal? I've read the Helix MEGA DI and SI are incredibly clear. Is the SI on the Garmin close to the HB? Is there any other units I should be looking at in this price range? I didn't really want to spend 1k on a fish finder for my kayak, but it seems like a good sale price for the Helix. Edited June 29, 2024 by Schaefer Added a Garmin unit Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted June 29, 2024 Super User Posted June 29, 2024 The helix 8 Msi is discontinued. The transducer is the same as the 9 (the big transducer) and the features are the same. The big humminbird helix transducer is fantastic and the garmin won’t be as good. It will be good, but the hbird is a step up. The garmin will get you touchscreen and an extra inch though which is nice. And if you want live imaging later garmin is better. Quote
