Super User slonezp Posted June 27, 2024 Super User Posted June 27, 2024 The guys that got caught, stuffing walleye bellies with lead, last year had their boat seized. It's now up for auction. https://www.govdeals.com/asset/13146/10337 Quote
Super User Scott F Posted June 27, 2024 Super User Posted June 27, 2024 I’m not aware of how it works. When the boat was seized, do the cheaters get any of the money from the auction? That boat cost close to $120,000 new. That’s a pretty hefty fine by itself, not including court costs and DNR fines. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 27, 2024 Author Super User Posted June 27, 2024 I believe they had to pay some kind of retribution and/or fines. Quote

They were also banned from participating in any fishing tournaments in the state of Ohio if my memory is correct. The bigger issue is how they intend to rejoin society. Everyone knows what they did. Good luck sending your kids to school or going to work after that type of debacle. Quote

Nope. All of the proceeds go back to the government, and do not count towards the fines. Like when a car is seized in a drug bust. Looks like it's already up to $80k with 26 days left. 1 Quote

Motoboss Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 And just to think the forfeiture owner still has to pay the boat loan too! Or bankruptcy, I’m sure. Quote

GRiver Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Didn’t one of these guys get caught pouching deer after this? Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted June 30, 2024 Global Moderator Posted June 30, 2024 @GRiver yes and I believe it was the same guy and his son were also being investigated for having counterfeit money. The one guy can’t get out of his own way! Quote
Susky River Rat Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 @12poundbass yeah seems like they are just scum all around. @Motoboss I think that was a boat they had won. 1 Quote
