Super User scaleface Posted June 28, 2024 Super User Posted June 28, 2024 I think a swim bait went flying overboard and steve didnt see it. Hes going to be wondering where that other bait went. 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted June 28, 2024 Super User Posted June 28, 2024 Steve Kennedy shows the world why the big swimbait is the most exciting bait in Bass fishing. If those two catches don't fire you, you aren't a Bass angler 6 minutes ago, TnRiver46 said: I agree, and the proposed rule of having to catch every fish in the mouth would end this fun He won on Clear Lake with some stupid amount of weight with CA's hooked in the mouth rules being enforced. He had to throw back a DD that ate his big swimbait but ended up being hooked outside the mouth because he added a stinger hook to the bait. 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 28, 2024 Global Moderator Posted June 28, 2024 I don’t know if he would risk a glide with trebles is they made such a rule, I think that clear lake thing was a top hook bait ? Maybe a line thru 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted June 28, 2024 Super User Posted June 28, 2024 Yeah it was a big soft swimbait IIrc. He spent like $10k on big swimbaits right after that event, said he still has some left 🤣 1 Quote
GReb Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Steve did a swimbait interview with Zaldain that’s awesome. He talks about everything. It’s like 2 hours long 2 Quote

ak6388 Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Anyone notice they weighed about 4 anglers before weigh in started? Cody Huff already on the board at 29lbs and he didnt go yet. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 28, 2024 Global Moderator Posted June 28, 2024 Cody huff took off first this morning so he would be the first to weigh in 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted June 28, 2024 Super User Posted June 28, 2024 Pro Bass fishing is the only sport I've watched where I want almost all the competitors to win. This sport attracts some fantastic human beings, these weigh ins always remind me of that fact. Hope that young man makes a full recovery! 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted June 28, 2024 Super User Posted June 28, 2024 WOW.....Mckinney with a 7lb late penalty for being 7 mins late. This dude is off to a terrible start with regards to penalties and his young career. 2 Quote
ak6388 Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I came back at the end of his weigh in, why was he late? Quote

He caught them so good he came back to the check-in early and was trying some stuff out. Caught another big one and just flat out lost track of time. Inexcusable honestly. Freakin 7 pound penalty 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted June 28, 2024 Super User Posted June 28, 2024 Really is inexcusable, same with him not watching a Bassmaster rules video earlier this year. Very simple things, not like he's Poche out there getting penalized for gray areas. For a guy that makes catching Bass look easy, it's hard to imagine him making these massive mistakes. ETA: Dude could have won the derby, especially with his bag today. Now he won't even make the cut. Wild! 1 Quote

I mean, I guess that goes hand-in-hand with being young. We've been there and done plenty of dumb stuff. He'll figure it out. I imagine going from currently sitting in 2nd to possibly not even making the cut will wake him up some 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted June 28, 2024 Super User Posted June 28, 2024 The crazy thing is I watched him every event last year in the Opens, and I can't recall him being penalized for anything. Quote
ak6388 Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Cracks the door open for AOY as well and he basically could have shut the door after this tournament. Wild.... 1 Quote

If that was the worst of my "young and dumb" I would feel pretty good! 2 Quote

Man that's a soul crushing blow. That 7 minutes potentially cost him a blue trophy, AOY trophy, and $200k ETA: and it cost him the Crush City monster bag....would have been tough to top 16lb+ WOW......his weight was just now DQ'd for the entire day because a family member actually called him on the phone and alerted him he was late. He self reported. Absolutely mind boggling. McKinney's Day 2 weight disqualified at Smith Lake - Bassmaster Finished 93rd. 1 Quote
